Is it bad to partially cook poultry, refridgerate and then recook it the next day? My husband partially cooked some turkey breast and then stuck it in the refridgerator. It was still raw in the middle and then he fully cooked it today. I heard that it was NOT good to eat poultry that was not fully cooked on the first day, however, I am not completely sure why (something about the bacteria breeding). Anyway, my husband still thinks that we should eat it but however you can help is appreciated. (I just don't want to spend the next few days vommitting and pooping the whole time.)
What is the boiling point of poultry fat? I would like to separate the poultry fat from LD PE (low density polyethylene films used to transport them...). Before cooking poultry are you supposed to wash it? I thought I saw my mom doing this when I was younger, but I'm not sure. Are you supposed to rinse all poultry before preparing or only if it's a whole bird (not just breast or thighs)? Or do you do it at all? If so, what is the purpose? Your input would be helpful!
Irradiated meat poultry and fruits marked with a symbol are you more or less likely to purchase and why? Food irradiation can prevent bacterial food poisoning, slow spoilage and prolong the shelf life of food it does not make food radioactive or alter its nutritional value. Some people worry that it may cause harmful chemicals to form and it does not kill the endospores that can cause botulism. Irradiated meat, poultry and fruits are already available in many supermarkets. By law they must be marked with a symbol. Would seeing this symbol on a package make you more or less likely to purchase the product. Explain your answer...

What is the quietest kind of poultry-type bird? If you are experienced with poultry, what is the quietest type to own? Peafowl, chickens, ducks, geese, etc? My guess is a duck, but I'd love to hear what others think. I was interested in keeping a few chickens someday for eggs and occasional meat (no roosters, just hens) but I am told that some breeds are more vocal than others. Maybe ducks are the way to go?
How do I open a live poultry business? I live in philadelphia, pa and would like to open a live poultry business. Where should I start to apply for license? I know finding a location has to be the right zoning. So What should I do first? Find a place first or go get a license first? Where and who should I talk to?
Why does raw poultry go bad faster than beef or pork? Kept at the same temperature, both in sealed bags, both original packages labeled with similar expiration dates, yet the bird goes bad first. I've found it to be the same when I get a real chicken from a farmer (not supermarket) - it goes bad quicker than beef or pork. That's why I always freeze poultry right after purchase. If you don't, it's use it or lose it. Why?
Why is it socially acceptable to eat poultry without utensils but not beef? These are the questions that plague the minds of 18 year old college bound girls at 5am when they cannot sleep. Why is it socially acceptable to eat chicken or any sort of poultry with your hands, but not steak or roast beef or pork chops (minus barbequed ribs, but those are barbequed and do not count as normal food.)??

Who invented the notion that vegetarians eat seafood and poultry? I get so irritated whenever I hear people claim that some vegetarians eat seafood and poultry! Seafood and poultry are flesh! Therefore, the people who eat them are NOT vegetarians! In fact, the word "vegetarian" was coined by the people who started the Vegetarian Society in England in the 1840s to describe people who abstain from eating flesh. beebs: I like you, even if you do eat fish once in a blue moon.:)
Are there job opportunities for a poultry pathologist in Singapor ? I am Canadian. I did some research on Singapore and fell in love with your beautiful, well-organized county. will be grateful if anybody could help me with these 2 questions: 1) Are there job opportunities outside government for a veterinary (poultry) pathologist ? 2)Are foreign nationals allowed to work for the government or they have to get their permanent residency/citizenship first? Thanks in advance.
How do/what chemicals do food packaging plants use to preserve poultry? I've noticed when I buy certain brands of chicken from the meat department, they taste extra "chicken-y". Perhaps the chicken is preserved with chicken flavoring (i.e. chicken flavored chicken)? I've had the same problem with turkey. I find the extra flavoring disgusting and can never finish a piece of poultry that tastes like it's been soaking in "essence of chicken". It's overpowering! So, what am I actually tasting?
What is the best way to season poultry? Turkey, cornish hens, whole chickens? I try to make my meat as juicy as possible with the outside tender and crispy. Instead of bread stuffing I put 6 large oranges, poultry seasoning, soul food seasoning, paprika, and butter. usually comes out great but the bottom of the bird is soft because of all the juice left in the pan. I usually drain twice using the juice as a baste. Any other ways to make the meat more flavorful?

Are people pushing to make induced moulting for poultry illegal in the US? It is very inhumane. It involves starving laying chickens for several days to control egg production. I'm surprised that animal rights groups never seem to pay attention to this. Maybe they do and I just never hear about it. Most countries have declared this illegal because it causes pain and distress in the long term. Killing of broiler chickens has improved, methods are getting more and more humane. Their death is quick and painless, and they have little exposure to the piece of equipment that will kill them, so pre-slaughter distress (which can be observed scientificly) is greatly reduced. Induced moulting is one of the few practices that is still used in modern factory farming that has substantial evidence of causing pain and distress in poultry while being raised. Most countries have banned this practice, however in the US, 90% of poultry farms use this process. It would be reassuring to know that some organization is pushing to end this inhumane process.
How can I get a strong poultry odor out of my refrigerator? A turkey defrosted in my refrigerator while I was away on a family emergency, and the yucky juice sat in my refrigerator for days. I have cleaned, disinfected, and removed all plastics that might absorb odors. But the smell is still there. Any suggestions??? I've tried lemons and baking soda, neither is doing the the job.
How long per kilo do you brine poultry for? I always buy a turkey crown for christmas as it is easy to carve, but unfortunately this can result in very dry piece of meat. I have read a lot about brining and its merits but cant seem to find any information on how long to leave it in the brine in relation to its weight. Lots of websites give some good info about making the brine but all seem very vague when it comes to specific timing. can anyone help?
How to be sure meat, poultry, and fish is thoroughly cooked? I always cook meat thoroughly but lately for some reason my husband always believes that its undercooked and wont eat it, no matter how long i cook it. I know that i am cooking it thoroughly?? When I cook ground beef, I get all of the pink out of it and get it evenly dark brown all around. When I make chicken I make sure the inside is white and you can peel it apart with your fingers. When I cook fish, I cook it until its nice and flaky. Isnt this right?? I'm confused. Thanks for the helpful answers. My husband is a sweet wonderful guy, and he's not a germaphobic person in the least, so I dont know why he's worried so much about the meat but i'm sure he has a good reason. :-)
