Does anyone know of any large poultry hatcheries other than Ideal poultry and Mcmurray? I have a small farm and would like a variety of pullets (approx. 50) and I would like to get them all from one hatchery.

A centuries old strain has recently been identified! This chronic disorder is affecting MILLIONS today and is quickly spreading! This highly transmissible disorder is known to very few poultry owners, although an estimated 95 percent of backyard flock owners are unknowingly subjected to it daily! Although symptoms rarely show up in the flock, and fatalities are extremely rare, this is a major cause for concern for ALL poultry owners world-wide. Chronic gallus domesticus sederia is a newly identified disorder most commonly transferred through direct contact with a flock. Occuring more frequently with some breeds than others, every flock owner in every corner of the world is highly susceptible to it! Don't think you or your flock suffer? Do you think 'I haven't come into contact with any flock but my own' ? Think again!! symptoms include minor dementia, restlessness, major compulsive behavior, serious reactions to specific breeds and types, rapid flock increases, and often minor espousal conflicts. And the worst part is: this disorder effects not the flock, but the flock OWNER!! Where to find a good hatchery? 10 points will be rewarded for the most helpful answer!? I have searched the web and could not find any good hatcheries or poultry farms that sell full grown or older poultry (chickens, turkeys, and ducks) that are full bred. Everywhere I have looked only sell one day old chicks. Does anyone know of somewhere I can find some that are more mature? Web or somewhere in the Southern United States region? I can't find the poultry hatchery, can anyone help? I think they are in Texas? The important thing is that this particular hatchery is willing ship as few as 5 ducklings. I bought 5 Cayuga ducklings at a local farm & fleet. They were straight run (mixed genders). Now I find that I have 4 boys and 1 girl. She might not survive mating season. I’d like to even things out a bit. Cayugas are a very rare breed of American duck. They are bred mostly for show; they are also quiet (for ducks). They are black with a green sheen and blue patches on their wings (like the common Mallard has blue on their wings). They have done an excellent job of ridding my yard of bugs (even mosquitoes, with our flooding!). I’ve looked up Metzer Farms, Murray McMurray, & Meyer Hatchery. They all have minimums of 10 or 15.

Baby poultry question please help? I have recived my baby chicks from the hatchery and they heave been doing good for the two weeks i have had them. Now recently I have noticed a large growth on their necks and it appears to be full of chick starter. It is like this on all the chicks. I have never seen this before and the hatchery is replacing my order. I had them vaccinated for meariks disease and if this was done incorectly could the food be getting cought up inside their throat? Has anyone ever seen this? Or does anyone have any sugesstions?

What breed of chickens are rare and do not get the attention they deserve at the poultry shows? Hello, I showed chickens when I was young and in 4-H but now Im totally out of the loop. I am looking for someone that shows chickens and could tell me a breed of chicken that doesnt get shown as much as some other popular breeds. I would like some competition but dont want something that you see all the time. Secondary I would like two examples....one from the larger breeds and one from the bantam types. Getting ready to order in Feb and Im having trouble making up my mind. Also, what hatchery's do you recommend as far as show quality.

my chick brooder is about 3 ft in circumference (all the way around) is that big enough for 50 chicks? i have a brooder that i made out of chicken wire and is 3 feet in circumference. i am wondering if that is big enough for 50 chicks.(cornish rock pullets) i just got them yesterday and they are about 1 day old now. how warm should it be in there. its about 80 degrees right now, its june and is about 75-80 degrees outside. they also are pooing out green pasty poo...what is that all about? the chicken wire is about 3 feet or so high. can predators like cats climb over that? there is a crib-like structure that is fenced with chicken wire around the booder aswell. i have tried an plugged all the holes that preadators could get into but what is the best way to keep them out? how do i control the flies? can i hang fly traps...poison?... there is spray called Branco and it says its for horses can it be used on chickens? there also is a spray called "Poultry Protector" that the Welp Hatchery in IA sells...could that work to? by the way- i do live on a farm if that helps?... i need help...! if it is to small what size should it be?

Where to buy baby chickens? So I'm well informed about raising chickens from chicks. I want three chicks, But I can't spend thirty dollars on shipping from mypetchicken! And Ideal Poultry is okay, but there's not much else to buy that's useful other than poultry to spend the minimum 25 dollars. Most online stores have a minimum number of animals to buy to ship. The closest hatcheries in my state are 2 hours away, so I'm in a bit of a pickle. Any advice? Will fleet farm be selling chickens this late in the year? I went today and i didn't see any. Is it ok to just leave the chickens in a large pen with the coop in it and they can just roam wherever. I would lock them up at night in the small run with enclosed top with coop.
