Arguments for intensive poultry farming? For school, me and my friend have to produce a discussion about intensive poultry farming. One of us have to argue against it, and the other for it. I was chosen to argue for it, except I have no idea what to say, as I am a vegetarian, and completely against killing animals for food all together. Can anybody give me some plus-sides to intensive poultry farming? Thanks, any help would be highly appreciated .x From Becky Its not just vegetarians that eat veg, y'know -.- I'm sure you eat veg too, so they're being killed for you, too.
can some one tell me about poultry farming? Can some one explain to me about poultry factory in us how it works , how you start if you want to the knowledge about the chickens will be enough for that or something else. How much profit you have to spend?
pls,ild like to know all i can about starting up a commercial egg poultry farm in nigeria?im new to farming.? I would like to start with about 1000 birds and increase to about 10000 later though gradually. I wanted to start off with point of lay birds but was advised to raise my own by buying day old chicks and rasing them to point of lay so i would be sure of the source of the chicks. I've always had an interest in poultry farming and would like to start off before the end of the year. Ild like it if information on costing, care of the chicks/chickens; housing and up till marketing could be provided. I'ld also like to mill my own feed to further reduce cost and would like all the information I can get in order to achieve this. What should the bird houses look like? Where can I source land for such a venture somewhere in Lagos?.In summary, i need information or articles about all what i've described and costing. Thanks.
Which Schooling has Higher Entrance Requirements: Osteopathy or Poultry Farming? A tedious UK-trained osteopath insists his osteopathic school training is of a professional level, and he claims he is qualified to be a front-line healthcare provider. It's been noted earlier that an osteopathic qualification in the UK requires just five years of part-time (weekend) study, which can be done while working in a fish 'n chips shop. What's also interesting is comparison of the requirements for attending UK Osteopathy Schools, with requirements for schools of related professions. Consider, for example, the requirements of Osteopathy vs Physiotherapy: Osteopathy * UCAS Tariff: 160–260 points including chemistry and biology or human biology * A-levels: CC–BCC including chemistry and biology or human biology * SQA Highers: BBCC including science subjects * SQA Advanced Highers: CC–BBC including chemistry and biology or human biology * Irish Leaving Certificates: BBBCC including science subjects * International Baccalaureate: 26 points including science subjects * European Baccalaureate: 65–70% including science subjects Physiotherapy * UCAS Tariff: 240-370 points including biology or human biology * A-levels: BBB including biology or human biology * SQA Highers: BBBB-AABBB including biology or human biology * Irish Leaving Certificates: BBBB-AABBB including biology or human biology * International Baccalaureate: 32-34 points including a human biological science * European Baccalaureate: 74-78% including a human biological science The requirements for Physiotherapy are startlingly higher. What would a comparison of matriculation requirements for Osteopathic and Medical Schools show?.. The low intelligence requirements for osteopathy matriculants explains why UK-trained osteopaths have only a "conversational" and fuzzy understanding of chemistry, biology, physics, and even medicine. They obviously struggle to talk the talk, let alone walk the walk. Requirements for entry to osteopathy courses are quite low — not much above those of vocational occupations such as poultry farming. It might be easier for a typical high school leaver with no "A" levels at all to be waived into osteopathy school than into a typical poultry trade school. Should the sub-professional nature of osteopathy be acknowledged, and "title protection" for osteopaths be ended? Should osteopaths be required to re-register as massage therapists?
How would I find work on a chicken or poultry farm? I am looking for work on a chicken or turkey farm. It doesn't matter where in the U.S. it is located, really. Anyone have any good ideas that might result in a quality search? Maybe there's a way to search for this that I don't know & am not using? Thanks (Serious replies only, pls :-) )

Where can I find a poultry farm around southern Georgia? I'm doing a science fair project on hatching chicken eggs in an incubator. They say I need fertilized eggs to incubate and I live in Jonesboro, GA, so please help me and give me at least 5 different places with sites. Thanks!

If I Buy a home in north Arkansas, near a poultry farm, will the smell be too much to handle? I've been told buy a southern Missouri realtor to avoid "chicken farms" in Arkansas. He said I'd be better off to buy in southern Misssouri too avoid the smell. ...The home is 300' from five Tyson poultry buildings, which are 300feet in length, a total of five Tyson buildings in close neat rows. Could the smell be bad enough to give up on buying the property? the house/property are very nice for the price.
Regulations for Tyson poultry farm approval? What are the regulations for poultry farm approval for Tyson poultry farms? The Tyson.com site doesn't seem to have any documentation. I ask because my neighbor has chicken coups up himself, and I have heard that I would be unable to build a poultry farm approved by Tyson if there are alien chicken species within a certain radius. I don't know if this is true or not. If his personal chicken coups (he collects eggs for himself not for a corporation) is too close to my property than this might mean that I will not be able to build a poultry farm. If anyone can answer this I would be grateful.
Are people pushing to make induced moulting for poultry illegal in the US? It is very inhumane. It involves starving laying chickens for several days to control egg production. I'm surprised that animal rights groups never seem to pay attention to this. Maybe they do and I just never hear about it. Most countries have declared this illegal because it causes pain and distress in the long term. Killing of broiler chickens has improved, methods are getting more and more humane. Their death is quick and painless, and they have little exposure to the piece of equipment that will kill them, so pre-slaughter distress (which can be observed scientificly) is greatly reduced. Induced moulting is one of the few practices that is still used in modern factory farming that has substantial evidence of causing pain and distress in poultry while being raised. Most countries have banned this practice, however in the US, 90% of poultry farms use this process. It would be reassuring to know that some organization is pushing to end this inhumane process.
Is this to close to home? 160 poultry plant employees tested for TB? decatur, AL- about 160 workers at a decatur poultry farm have been tested for tuberculosis was after a former employee was diagnosed with active TB, a state helth department official said. the former employee, who was hospitalized and is being treated, left the wayne farms poultry plant several weeks ago. scott jones said health officials initiated skin tests on the employess at the plant. jones, interim director of the health department's TB control division, said they will return to the plant friday to evaluate the employees reactions to the testing solution. he would not name the former employee or say where he was hospitalized or where he resides. any positive results resukts from wednesday's skin tests would only mean an employee has at some time been exposed to turberculosis, jones told the decatur daily in a story thursday. any wayne farms employees who test positive will receive lung X-rays on oct- 16th. a person who tests positive for TB but has no symptoms is not contagious. to keep latent TB from becoming active, health officials usually administer a six- month course of isoniazid in pill form. jones said the former employee was born out- side the united states. "greater than 50% of cases reported nationaly are among people born outside the USA;" jones said, in 2006. 27% of the cases reported in alabama were among people born outside of the united states. theres more to come folks. wayne farms spokesman frank singleton said the county administered skin test to 80 employees who had worked in close proximity to the TB- infected former employee. the total number tested was higher than 80 because the county opened testing to all employees who requested it, he said. TB is an airborne disease. this town is 50 miles from where i live. it's really scary when it's close to home like this. they gave no name of the infected person. and yes we hills people cook all our food. read the rest, TB is airborne!!!!!
Poultry farm question. Serious Answers Only, PLEASE? We are wanting to get into the poultry business. We have talked about starting from scratch, but are thinking that it would be better to start in a business that is already up and going. Anyway, my question is: Does anyone know of any poultry farms (aka:Chicken houses) that are within 75 miles east of Tulsa? Preferably with land and a pre-existing home? I have searched oodles & gobs of websites and I haven't really come up with anything so I thought some one might know of some good areas or even good websites to look at. Thanks so much in advance for taking the time to answer, I really appreciate it!!!!!!!
What feasible changes could be made to a commercial poultry farm to make it more sustainable? An existing, operating poultry farm. (not a processing plant) Taketwo, I am primarily interested in developing a sewage treatment system (sustainable) that poultry farms near me (Tyson farms, mostly and I think they are either broiler or egg operations, some turkey) could buy and use to treat their runoff (remove phosphorous and nitrogen) so it doesn't contaiminate nearby streams or groundwater. I'm not sure if I'd try to do something with the litter as well-I may team up with someone who is able to turn it into methane gas for the farm and I just take care of the wastewater treatment. So once the litter is removed for biogas, the threat of groundwater pollution is removed entirely? Or are there still liquid/wastewaters left behind that need dealt with?
raw feeders-poultry or red meat? Which meat do you use most for raw feeding. one source I read says red meat is best but I've only given chicken and I found this poultry farm to buy stuff from cheap..but is that ok to give mostly all poultry? the farm sells duck, goose, rabbit, quail and pheasants also. also about the organs and bone. how often do you feed the organ and bone and how much does your dog weigh please (I know 10% should be organ..but just asking) thanks very much.
Does anyone know here I can get a sound byte of sick/sniffling chickens? My Chemistry teacher once owned a poultry farm, and as an extra credit assignment, he dared us to get a sound file of recently vaccinated chickens. He said that if you were in a chicken house of vaccinated chickens, and whistled loudly, they would get quite and you could hear them sniffling.
what is the best way to keep raccoons, weasels, and other predators away from and in your poultry barn? I just got some chickens and I am thinking I am going to have coons, weasels, possums, in my barn that will get into my chickens. What is the best way to get rid/repel them? What about scare-crows? Are there any scents they dont like? Anything I could get at my Fleet Farm. I live in a small town so keep that in mind. We have Wal-Mart, Fleet Farm (Small one) & that is about all we have to get livestock supplise. (and human supplise...lol) Any good ideas?
