Is there anywhere I can buy a cheap chicken coop? Hi, I have about 8 baby chicks donated from the farm I live next to and I do not have a coop to put them in yet so i went online to find the prices and I couldnt beilive how expensive they were!!! if you know anywhere there is a chicken coop for sale that is under 400 dollars that holds atleast 8 hens? thanks that would be a really big help!

In a chicken coop do you need one box per chicken? I would think so, but the reason i'm asking is because i've seen chicken coops for sale saying they fit 4 standard chickens but it only has 2 boxes.

i need a chicken coop that holds 12 hens? i am trying to find a chicken coop for sale because i recently bought 12 chickens. Why are chicken coops high off the ground? I was looking in the "farm & yard" section of craigslist and saw a very cute chicken coop for sale. It was built high off the ground and had a narrow little stairway leading up to a small doorway for the chickens to enter. The inside of the chicken coop had what looked like a "shelf" in it or maybe a rectangular box. So why is the chicken coop built so high off the ground that it necessitates that stairway just to enter it? And what is that shelf or box inside the chicken coop?

Wanting to adopt a chicken. Help? I was at the Tractor Supply Store and I saw these Baby chickens for sale. I have know clue how old they where or what breed they where, but I'd like to adopt one. I'm just clue less on what to do, I saw that they had this hot light thing above the chickens. These chickens will not be used for food thy will be for pets. I don't have a clue once I adopt it what I would do. How can I sell 100 chicken coops wholesale in LA? I am from Australia and have 110 wooden chicken coops in a warehouse in LA. They weigh 101lbs each and cost me too much to transport when I sell them on ebay. Many of the sales are on the East coast of the USA. So, I'm having a chicken dilemma...? I have a friend who works at one of the local farm stores. They're having a chick sale, as they do every year. My friend is telling me stories about how people are coming in and buying chicks based on 'cuteness' value, and that most of those chicks aren't going to live into adulthood because of the quality of care they're bound to get. It may sound childish, but this just kills me. I feel sorry for those chicks, and I really want to buy some of my own. I've raised chickens before from chicks--quite successfully. I have all that I need to set up and start, with the exception of a chicken coop. They won't need that until adulthood, and I've found some easy plans so that's not the problem here. My main issue with chickens is once they're adults, they like to wander the yard. It's impossible for me to build a coop to satisfy them daily, so they'd have to be out during the day and cooped up at night. Not a problem--but I've had problems in the past with hawks getting them, even during the day. I guess that's my dilemma--I want to sort of 'save' these chickens (they'd be egg-layers) but I'm also worried it would be selfish, as they'd run the risk of something happening to them during the daytime hours. What do you think? Sorry it's so long. The coop I'm building would be fine at night; I meant during the day. The last time I bought chickens from this store, they sold black australorps, brown leghorns, and rhode island reds I believe. I'm not sure what they're selling now. I personally liked the leghorns...I haven't found much on the internet about their personalities, but mine were always docile and friendly. The reds are my least favorite, they were always the most aggressive.

Want to raise chickens. where to start? ok, we just bought a new house (we re not in it yet), out in the middle of no where lol, with about an acre of land (the land next to us is for sale as well, so possibly within the next year, we will have over 2 acres). my boyfriend and i have been tossing the concept of raising chickens back and forth. There is an old, not used outhouse on the property, that i was thinking of adding onto and making a chicken coop. what i want to know is, what breed of chicken would be suited, for a small flock (im thinking maybe 2-4 chickens), thats located in an area that gets pretty cold in the winter? also, ive had ppl go back and forth about letting them out to roam. i want them too, but im scared of them getting hit by a car. is there anyway to scare them from getting too close to the road? i basically want them for eggs, and keeping slugs, and ticks out of the yard. any suggestions? i do have a site on how to care for them, i just need breed suggestions. How many animals(cow and sheep together) and chickens can you have in Sunshine Islands? For animals like how many can you have in the large or maximum built barn. Slaving to brands, advertisements and coupons...? this bothers me. not just when people value & wear brand name clothes, but when they submit to their ads. they don't see through them/ that the whole point is to get them to buy something. examples- there was this fit-all-you-can-into-this-bag for 15% off sale at lowes. my parents got really excited. can't they see that they wouldn't have gone and bought from there if it wasn't for this gimmick? my stepmom goes looking through a magazine of consumer "favorites." she says OOH i want that! ooh thats pretty! you can get me that for christmas. she reads another country-like magazine, and decides she wants to get chickens. she starts watching demonstrating videos online for coops. that's her final decision maker. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. doesn't anybody else see through this? we've got to stop giving our power to these companies.
