How can Americans claim to be the land of the free and yet threaten the Dixie Chicks? I am an Australian who has found America's reaction to Natalie Maines comments about George Bush quite confusing and unfathomable. Aren't Americans acting like the dictators they readily declare war on, by saying you can't speak out against your leader at risk of death? I think so. What I want to know is, are Americans really like this? Supporting a leader no matter what he does? Even if it leads the murder of many civilians?

Why do some people say they hate the Dixie Chicks after their comments in UK, yet some still love Green Day? I love both Dixie Chicks and Green Day. However, I find it puzzling that some people I know refuse to listen to the Dixie Chicks after their comments in UK, but those same individuals absolutely *love* Green Day. What we were not told was that the sells reported were consignments to Distributors - because the Dixie Chicks have a Buy back clause in their distributor contracts instead of a "return unsold" agreement. The agreement also states that they have to buyback stock not sold at a higher price than the distributor paid for the inventory to compensate for stock space. This is done with many artists.

Where in the Southeast can you hear the Dixie Chicks on the radio? The Dixie Chicks won 5 Grammys last night, but I haven't heard them on a country station in years. Where I live I can hear 3 Atlanta stations, one Athens station, and one Greenville, SC station. None of these play the Chicks because of their political comments which were very unpopular here in the South. I think if they promise to keep quiet on political issues, the stations here should resume playing them again as they are excellent musicians.
