Chook Me!

People that have made BBQ chicken in the crockpot.?

I made the BBQ chicken last night and it didn't turn out how I hoped. I used chicken breasts and BBQ sause and water. I think I added too much water. When you make this do you add water? If so, how much? Any other suggestions or BBQ recipes? Thanks I was afriad if I didn't add water it would turn out to be a burnt mess.

  1. Do not add any water next time.....
  2. Don't add any water just use BBQ sause. You can also add Cchopped onion and garlic to add more flavor.
  3. Depending on the thickness of the sauce, either skip the water, or cook the chicken in the crockpot and add the sauce toward the end of the cooking time.
  4. Do exactly what you did....without the water. The juice from the chicken and the BBQ sauce adds enough moisture for it to cook. No water, at all!! I do this all the time, and I have never had any problems.
  5. Note: I usually make this for BBQ chicken sandwiches & not for a BBQ chicken breast on its own. I usually don't add water. The sauce I usually use is a somewhat thin one, & I usually cover the chicken breasts & cook until they're done, then remove the chicken promptly & put more sauce on it to keep it from getting too dry.
  6. If you added too much water you can thicken up the sauce with corn starch. Put about 2 tsp in a cup and add a little bit of water to it....use a whisk to make sure that you don't have any lumps and pour it into the gravy and whisk again. This should thicken up the BBQ sauce nicely and salvage your meal.
  7. I usually add a can of Hormel chili mmmm mmmm good
