Grilled/BBQ chicken that calls for sprayed on marinade, soy sauce...?
Husband uncle won't share his secreet recipe for grilled/bbq chicken what he does is sprays the chicken with a marinade of some sort with a big spray bottle like the kind you can buy at smart and final one ingredient I know for sure is soy sauce. He continues to turn and spray chicken till done...comes out so good. The old stinker won't share. You guys are my last chance to crack the recipe :)

- Well, it won't be a marinade, but a glaze. A marinade is a liquid that you soak meat in for a long period of time prior to cooking. That's a common technique for cooking chicken. But it sounds like your husband's uncle uses a glaze. Most glazes have something sweet (brown sugar, maple syrup, etc), something acidic (lemon juice, lime juice, vinegar), and something savory (BBQ sauce, ketchup, etc.) The sugar caramelizes on the meat as it cooks, and can be reapplied during cooking to create a kind of sweet crust. Soy on the grill will mostly just add salt, which is a good thing. Do a search on BBQ glazes, and give one a try. And it really is horrible that he won't give you the recipe. Sounds like he needs a good kick in the arse!
