  1. Better to contact PAU, Ludhiana. They run short courses also. poultry farm is open where as mushroom require darkness.
  2. Mushroom farming is very profitable venture. In India, we grow mushrooms in dark -humid rooms. To grow button mushroom, poultry litter is very good source of compost. You can also grow Milky mushroom and Oyster mushroom. Commonly used substrate for them is Paddy straw. Good contamination free environment with high humidity is must. For more detail you Search websites, Contact Panjab Agricultural University, Also see the website of Tamilnadu Agricultural University. Move ahead.

  5. Your State Agricultural University will be able to help you. It is one of the best Universities in India. Mushroom spawn requires some degree of sanitary conditions. Hence, using your poultry farm shed may not be wise. You may have to clean it thoroughly and disinfect it before you can start growing mushrooms in it. Suggest you write to the Extension Directorate of your State Agricultural University. Its services are likely to be free, or at very low cost

  7. There are different kinds of mushrooms, both edible and non edible as well as poisonous ones. Usually straw mushroom and oyster mushrooms are grown in India. straw mushroom requires cool climate for effective growing. Oyster mushrooms can be grown in sterilised straw, wood chips of soft woods etc. But better grow all these in closed shelters with netted doors and windows protecting against insects. From 1 kg straw you get 800 gms oyster mushroom and you get double the profit at leat, provided you have marketing facility. Mushrooms can be dried and stored for sale for use in soups etc in star hotels. Use formalin every time to clean floors and raised surfaces where we do mushroom farming. The room should be dark initially. When buttons start keep in fresh air. You have to practically learn this farming. In south india, best time is rainy season, But in N india you have to provide humid conditions inside room.
  8. Ya you can do in any dark room
