1. Chickens were domesticated in south-east Asia thousands of years ago and my readings tell me that Marco Polo brought them to Europe where before there were only ducks, geese, pigeons, etc, so it was wildly popular, especially the eggs despite their smaller size and which were produced much more regularly. Modern-day poultry farming, not sure, but there is more information on industrial farming of chickens and other animals at the www.meat.org website... http://www.meat.org/ I do not recommend this video to anybody who eats chickens or any other meats.
