How many pounds of chicken does a rotisserie chicken yield?
I am going to make chicken tamales. The recipe calls for 1 1/2 large rotisserie chicken. I have 6 lbs of chicken breast in my freezer I recently bought. How many pounds of the breast do I use to equal 1 1/2 rotisserie chicken?

- Cherise, a run of the mill chicken fryer weighs about 3.5 pounds, and contains 1/2 pound of skin and bones. So you would expect about 3 pounds of meat from an average fryer. I would suggest that you use 4.5 pounds of chicken breast in this recipe. That will make a lot of tamales. Regards, Dan
- a whole chicken (or a rotisserie chicken) can have about 3-5 pounds. Since it's a large rotisserie chicken, you can say 4 pounds then (to be in the safe side). So, what you need is 6 pounds. (4pounds + 2pounds).
- Measuring the chicken for the tamales is not an exact science. i would say that you would be safe with 4 lbs. Because the rotisserie chicken will have the bones to account for.
