what is the point of giving poultry growth stimulants and where do they get the stimulants from?

i thought that was illegal? where do you get such things from? just wondering.

1. I have no clue where they get them from but unfortunately it's a cruel practice that continues to this day. The chickens and other farm animals aren't covered by the Animal Cruelty laws, which really stinks. They're often so loaded up with growth stimulants that their legs break and they're crippled for life.
2. i worked in my grandpa's chicken houses when i was a kid in the mid 80-s up on sand mountain in dekalb county alabama and i never saw him put anything in the food or water but i've heard it comes in the chicken feed already from the factory. its supposed to be hormones,just like anabolic steroids.
