Chook Me!

can you leave poultry in a bowl of water in the refrigerator without it getting a disease? Is this healthy?

  1. not a good idea
  2. I wouldn't try it. Raw Chicken tends to spread salmonella
  3. Water is a sespool for germs, even when refrigerated they grow. I think its best to wrap the chicken in plastic by itself.
  4. why a bowl of water for? i mean im sure you can afford a decent plastic seal & refrigerate it
  5. Depends how long it's been sittin in the fridge...anything can get diseased after a long period of time, but if it's frozen you can let it thaw in water, just a couple days at most it should be fine.......and it should be covered!
  6. You most likely will get sick. Become vegetarian for your health, your wallet, and the well-being of animals.
  7. it's not a good idea...you should just put it in a ziplock bag to defrost
  8. yes, but not longer than overnight. The bacterial fear-mongers obviously don't understand that you plan to COOK the chicken before you eat it.
  9. If it's food and it's in the refrigerator - cover it up. All foods tend to either 1) dry up quickly without cover-up 2) Spread salmonela or 3)Somehow pick up e.coli. Either way, wrap that chicken up, raw or not raw!
  10. That’s how the bird flu got started….
  11. no, you most definatly cannot. and on that subject, i would like to mention the fact that i enjoy masticating foliage whilst jumping up and down and shouting 'fwibble'. 'and lo', the penguin cries, 'i am here'.
  12. safe food handling-ttm-time,temperature,moisture-you must eliminate one of the three for food to be safe-chicken stored in the fridge is best when covered in ice and the water drains away but for a short period in water is fine but why bother it be fine without-for longer storage use ice method -for beyond two, three days then it is best to freeze
