can you leave poultry in a bowl of water in the refrigerator without it getting a disease? Is this healthy?

- not a good idea
- I wouldn't try it. Raw Chicken tends to spread salmonella
- Water is a sespool for germs, even when refrigerated they grow. I think its best to wrap the chicken in plastic by itself.
- why a bowl of water for? i mean im sure you can afford a decent plastic seal & refrigerate it
- Depends how long it's been sittin in the fridge...anything can get diseased after a long period of time, but if it's frozen you can let it thaw in water, just a couple days at most it should be fine.......and it should be covered!
- You most likely will get sick. Become vegetarian for your health, your wallet, and the well-being of animals.
- it's not a good idea...you should just put it in a ziplock bag to defrost
- yes, but not longer than overnight. The bacterial fear-mongers obviously don't understand that you plan to COOK the chicken before you eat it.
- If it's food and it's in the refrigerator - cover it up. All foods tend to either 1) dry up quickly without cover-up 2) Spread salmonela or 3)Somehow pick up e.coli. Either way, wrap that chicken up, raw or not raw!
- That’s how the bird flu got started….
- no, you most definatly cannot. and on that subject, i would like to mention the fact that i enjoy masticating foliage whilst jumping up and down and shouting 'fwibble'. 'and lo', the penguin cries, 'i am here'.
- safe food handling-ttm-time,temperature,moisture-you must eliminate one of the three for food to be safe-chicken stored in the fridge is best when covered in ice and the water drains away but for a short period in water is fine but why bother it be fine without-for longer storage use ice method -for beyond two, three days then it is best to freeze
