OUTBREAK: Leprosy in Arkansas – Brought There by Whom? And should every illegal take a health screening test?
In an emergency room in Arkansas, the patient exhibits dark red boils, her skin numb. Another case of leprosy in America. Not far away, a tuberculosis-infected illegal immigrant coughs while on break at the local chicken processing plant – spreading his infectious germs across the break room table. His children, also carrying the disease, which had been all but eradicated from the United States years ago, join hundreds of children at the local public school. Crossing the Mexican border, in a pickup truck filled with “migrant workers” coming to “do the jobs Americans don’t do” in our fields and food processing plants, is the Islamic terrorist who purposefully infected himself with smallpox in order to spread the deadly disease to unsuspecting Americans nationwide. Fact or fiction? Well over 12 million illegal aliens have invaded our country from our southern border, circumventing the strict health requirements that are enforced for those entering legally – requirements that include ensuring the entrants are free from infectious diseases. Our own government continues its push to give them legitimacy, in some cases welcoming them with open arms under the guise of “they are doing the work Americans just don’t do.” However, we don’t know who they are – or what horrific contagions they may have brought with them. In Northwest Arkansas, the state health department has been tracking nine cases of Marshall Island citizens infected with leprosy. According to a report from KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fayetteville, Northwest Arkansas has a large population of Marshall Island immigrants who have been brought here to work in the poultry plants in the area. Although, according to Dr. Jennifer Bingham in the KFSM report, leprosy is curable with proper attention to treatment, they are not able to enlist compliance from the patients to complete the process. The report also lists 100 cases of tuberculosis in the Springdale area. http://familysecuritymatters.org/challenges.php?id=1386648

- I will give you a clue MEXICANS, MEXICANS,MEXICANS.
- Just one "illegal" immigrant that causes the death of one "legal" citizen of The USA by negligence, homicide, drunk driving or infecting them with some disease is ONE illegal immigrant too many!--------"Legal" immigrants should be pre screened and tested for infectious diseases before being allowed entry to this country.
- Seriously....study why. Europeans came here not knowing they carried deadly disease to the people here. They didn't PLAN it. They never intended for people to die. But...they did. What do you do? Screen people. You don't allow deadly disease here that you KNOW about. You can only control what you know. In todays world you have people who PLAN to kill people by disease. ALL people....immigrants and tourists should be checked before they step foot here. Even with 100% protection doesn't mean 100% guarentee..
- This will only continue to get worse as time goes on and there are more and more illegal aliens here in the US. There are some illegal aliens who are here who come here SPECIFICALLY just to get medical treatment, work to get some money and then go back to their country of origin. All the while not using precautions to keep from spreading the illness/disease! There is a time when we need to worry about OUR country and leave those who shouldn't be here deported back to their country of origin...I really wonder about the people who are staunch pro-illegal aliens.
- It's not possible to test every illegal.Or at least not while Democrats run senate. If it were possible to find them all they wouldn't be here. This is a serous problem and one of Bush's reasons for wanting to close the border.
- May Jesus have mercy on your soul in the day of your final judgment . If a person is sick, you help then. You don't call a person names just because he came from a different place.
- Seriously? Leprosy? You do realize we don't live in the dark ages right? Leprosy is treatable, as you pointed out, so what exactly are we supposed to be worried about here? If they don't accept treatment then they get permanent nerve and skin damage - this affects America how? TB is also treatable. With common hygiene practices they're not even all that contagious. But hey, if you're worried about leprosy, try washing your hands once in awhile. These aren't "horrific" contagions anymore. We are far more likely to get those from bonafide American citizens who travel to Africa or South America. But leprosy? Give me a break. Also, just so you all can rest easy - Legal immigrants -are- screened. You need to give your anti-immigrant sentiment a rest for a minute, take a breath, and read some articles that aren't from an anti immigrant web site.
- Legal immigrants are required to have medical screening to ensure that they do not bring any contagious diseases into the United States. Illegal aliens are not screened and many are carrying horrific third world diseases that do not belong in the USA. Many of these diseases are highly contagious and will infect citizens that come in contact with an infected illegal alien. This has already happened in restaurants, schools, and police forces. Leprosy, a scourge of Biblical days, is caused by a bacillus agent and is now know as Hansen's Disease. In the 40 years prior to 2002, there were only 900 total cases of leprosy in the US. In the following three years there have been 9,000 cases and most were illegal aliens. As noted in the article Leprosy in America: new cause for concern by Dr. William Levis, head of the New York Hansen's Disease Clinic. "It's creeping into the U.S. ... This is a real phenomenon. It's a public health threat. New York is endemic now, and nobody's noticed." In the same article, Dr. Terry Williams, who runs a Houston-based clinic serving leprosy patients across southern Texas, said that the bulk of the cases treated by his clinic were immigrants. "A lot of our cases are imported," he said. "We see patients from everywhere--Africa, the Philippines, China, South America." (emphasis added) As unfortunate as it may be, the US can not bear the financial burden for treating the world's sick, ill, and infected populace, but the Govt. should be protecting American citizens from the diseases being brought in by illegal aliens.
- You know you can get leprosy from digging around your backyard, right? Even without exposure to illegal immigrants.
- they won't go to the screening for fear of being deported. If they wer'nt here to begin with, we'd save the time and money on screenings, and billions over all.
