  1. build it using wood that pests dont like. Be sure to put a good slanted roof on it in a part of the property that doesnt flood. This is important as when chickens get wet and sick disease spreads very quickly, especially in overcrowded conditions. Be sure to include some tie downs in case bad storms come in so you can put tarps around it, don't leave them up as air flow will keep the coop ventilated and hold down disease. Be sure to put hen boxes up a few inches above ground so its harder for wild life to get to the eggs and include poles about 1 to 3 foot above ground so everyone has something to roost on at night. If you live in a cool area be sure to include a way to put a heat lamp out there as chickens can freeze to death very easy, just like any bird. Try to get waterers that can hover above the ground as it will make it harder for the chickens to mess up their water O.o same with feed. Include a sanding area for your chickens in a good patch fo sunlight. DO NOT overcrowd your chickens, this can cause stress and boredom and can lead them to peckign at eachother, which can get pretty bad sometimes. I put old boards down to and flip them over every few months. This keep sthem entertained as it exposes new bugs O.o;; fresh veggies can keep them entertained and happy too.
  2. they need laying boxes so they can go in the box to lay their eggs makes it easier to collect them and they dont get cracked
