If I build a small pond in my yard, can I buy ducks for it? Where do you get ducks??

I absolutely adore ducks and want them as pets. If I build a small pond in my yard can I buy ducks? Where the heck do you get them? Will they stay there or will they fly away?? Do I need to provide like a little chicken coop (duck coop) for them??? I don't know how to handle birds..

That sounds like a good idea :):) well you can buy ducks from either a farm or breeders. you can look online for breeders or farms near where you live. also, they wont fly away, if you get the right breed. there is a type of duck. do you know the big white ones? they are too heavy to fly and are almost the most common type. they need somewhere to be warm and safe at night, like a duck coop. if you dont have any other pets in your backyard like cats or dogs, you should let your ducks wander around in your yard. as long as you have good fencing too. i think just do your research, and get as much info as possible, and talk to breeders if you have any questions. other than that, good luck! i love ducks too and hope you get some :)
3. you dont hve to get many...just get a couple(make sure female and male! are some breeds that dont fly and are nor so big likedomestic mallard runners..they are very lovely and easy to get affection for you ( if you get ducklings!) they even will play in a kittie pool!
