hova bator incubator for reptiles problem, please help.?
I recently bought a hova bator model 1602 n and the temperature inside doesn't increase. Is there a heat provider inside the incubator, or do you have to provide the heat? I know it comes with a thermostat, is that what provides the heat or does it only control the heat? I keep it in a room at 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Please give me any advice. Thanks

- There is a 'heat ring' in the top portion of the hova-bator that provides the heat. The thermostat raises or lowers the the temperature. It can take two or three days to set the temperature to the desired level, depending on how much time you spend opening the incubator. Get an instant read thermometer and insert through one of the vent holes in the top, AWAY from thermostat and heat ring. It is polystyrene, if it doesn't have a hole, make one. Your room temp may be a problem, you may need to raise the ambient room temp. ***** it's called a 'wafer'*****
- I have that incubator. There's a little L shaped thing with a wing nut that you use to adjust the thermostat. There is a red light that should go on when the heating element is powered. Get it set up and adjusted while your animal is gravid so that it is ready for use when your animal lays. There is a part that sometimes fails, I forget what it is called - but you can buy that part from most feed stores.
