Chook Me!

Can you hear a baby chick thats still inside the egg?

I have some baby chicken eggs in an incubator. Today is the day they are supposed to hatch. I thought it wouldn't even work, but I swear I hear some chirping. But no sign of cracks in the eggs or anything. Can I still hear one if they are still inside the egg, or is that impossible? Thank you!

  1. No you can't because the force in the eggshell reflects the soundwaves back to the bird. So you can't.
  2. You are probably only hearing the chirping because you are so excited about them hatching, it happens a lot. You will though hear the chick once they start to break through, please be pationt with them because they go through a tough process and this takes hours, but they can get out of that shell by themselves, they don't need any human help, when you will hear the chirping though, it will be when you see a small hole and a cute little beak poking out, sometimes. It's very exciting! Congrats and good luck!!!
  3. You can hear it but there will be no sign of cracking because the same thing happened to me and it was funny to see. also try putting it under the heat or a light bulb so that it can hatch easier.
  4. no,you are not crazy, the other day I heard chirping in my tielnest box and I opened it and the eggs were all still there but I heard the chirping for a goor 8 hours,I got very nervous and thought I should help it hatch then I went on line and resd that you should look at the egg and you can actually see a spot on the outside of the egg where the chick is trying to peck his way out it will look like a calcium spot,so if you see that uour chick is on it's way.
  5. yup you sure can. my gma use to breed chickens? i guess that's what you call it. but she always said she could hear it.. so no your not crazy. and yes you can hear it :]
