- boil it, they are very good:P
- When incubating eggs the embryo inside usually develops quite fast. The majority of the days are spent growing and not developing. To me it sounds like that egg started but died sometime during incubation due to a variety of factors including humidity, rotation, and/or temperature. When looking at a embryonic development chart it sounds to me like it make it to about four days and died. :( At day 17 it should have the following characteristics..... Feathers mostly there. Length of 3rd toe = 9.8±0.3 mm; length of beak = 3.5 mm beak, claws & scales becoming firm you can check out the stages on this website.... http://www.minkhollow.ca/HatchingProgram/Candling/LearnMore/StagesOfDevelopment.html Just to be on the safe side I would keep it in the incubator and check in a couple days to see if it has made any progress. Keep rotating it in the meantime...3X daily. I hope this helps but sorry about your duckling. If you have any questions about incubation or anything just click on my profile and email me! Good Luck!
- It is hard to say, keep an eye on it and candle again in five days to see a difference. If you turned it three times a day then it sounds like you are on the right track. You will not want to turn it the last 5 days or so. If you didn't turn it properly they have a tendancy to die at about 12-15 days. It should fill up the egg more the next time you candle and it will be harder to see through. Sounds like it may have stopped since it is small but keep it and check again.
- Yes, you are doing a good job! If you can see blood veins that means that it is developing and is alive. The black spot you are seeing is the embryo ( duckling ). By now, if you have a strong enough light, and watch carefully, you should be able to see the duckling embryo move a little bit. Just remember to turn the egg three times a day until day 25 of incubation and then to stop turning the egg so it can get in a hatching position. Make sure to have lots of humidity in your incubator, and add more during the last three days of incubation ( day 25-28 ). HOPE THIS HELPED!!!
