- The rooster does not sit on the eggs. He needs to be taken out before the eggs hatch, he can kill the chicks. Chicken eggs take 21 days to hatch, it doesnt matter if its under the hen or in a incubator. A hen will sit on her eggs most of the day, only getting up to eat and drink.
- 19 days for miniature fowl and 21 days for large breeds. If the hen is off the nest during the day she will not be broody yet and will probably lay more eggs before sitting them. i hope this helps.
- the rooster can still be in the pen with the hens when the chicks hatch he will help feed them it takes 21 days for them to hatch the hen will probably get of her eggs during the 2nd week for about 20 minuets a day to dust bath and get food and drink bantam eggs usually hatch on the 19 or 20th day so it takes 21days doesnt matter how many hours she sits on them
- exactly 21 days for 24 hours a day, chickens that are laying only get off them when they get feed or water, then they go back to the nest...
