How long can chicken stay in water?
Yesterday I put frozen chicken in a bowl of water in the fridge. I ended up being gone the entire day and forgot about it being in water last night. So, today the chicken is thawed sitting in the water in the fridge. Is it safe to cook and eat?

- absolutely, but only because it was in the fridge.
- tHAT SHOULD ABSOLUTELY FINE. oops me caps was on!
- well if you get sick you can always just take pepto bismo.
- Yes, that's actually one of the safest way to de-thaw the chicken. Just be sure to wash up really good after handling the water and chicken.
- If you have had it in your fridge it may be ok after you cook it all the way through. There is no need to take it out of the package when you thaw it though. Next time keep it in the package just to be safe.
- yes! good thinking for putting it in the fridge; it would have gone bad if not.
- Yes is save because water doesn't effect the chicken,But if you refroze the chicken and froze again is bad.
- No, I personally would not eat it, there is still a slight risk of salmonella poisoning, do not do it, it is not worth it
- let me think 1:it was frozen 2:it was in the fridge 3:it was in water for only 1 day it is f***g safe to eat :P
- Yes, but I recommend cleaning the chicken, inside and out, with boiling water and lemon juice before preparing
- Yes, it's fine, but I'd drain the water off, and just wrap the bowl w/ plastic wrap until you're ready to do something w/ it tonight.
