Chook Me!

If 2 roosters have been raised together will they still fight?

I have 5 Rhode Island Red chicks in one pen but now I am seeing that 2 of them are roosters. Will they fight each with each other as they reach maturity or will they be fine since they were raised together?

  1. They will fight each other. There is only one leader in the flock, and they will fight to decide which one. Rhode Island roosters can be really mean, too. My sister and I were chased into the barn by one, and it tried to scratch through the door to get to us. Grandmother ate him.
  2. Oh yes, there can only be one king of the chicken coop!
  3. usually depends on the breed. Some get mean even by themselves. Never had a problem with Reds. This is what we raise but we have a 5 hen to 1 rooster ratio. I don't think they will fight but if they do it is because you only have three hens.
  4. Hi, You'll find if you have 15 hens and the two brothers Rhode Island Reds, they'll get along fine. There will always be a dominant one, and will pack at the other. As long as you make sure there are plenty of hens to go around, they should be fine. I have 500 males running with 4000 hens in my 3 sheds.
  5. yep
  6. trust me they will not fight i got seven chickens and rhode island
