duck incubator questions????????????

ok so im going to get a duck incubator but i dont need a big one. i have seen some incubators on ebay that are pretty cheap i need a really cheap one. but all of them are chick incubators they say they will work for ducks but i have heard that ducks need humidity things and it doesn't say it has one. and its only $26 dollers so i would like to buy it because its so cheap but needed to know weather it would be ok for duck eggs without the humidity thing if it doesn't have it.

  1. All eggs require humidity when incubating, this prevents the egg from dehydrating and causing chick death. There is no one incubator designed for just ducks. Incubators are equipped with a water well, this is where you put water to keep the humidity level at certain rates for each different species. Duck eggs need to be incubated with a relative humidity level of about 80%. So the type of incubator isn't as big of a deal for the species you wish to hatch. Hatch tempts and humidity levels vary between species as well does hatch times ( the number of days of incubation). It isn't recommended to buy used incubators, unless you have personal knowledge of the hatches they have had. Incubators are great places for bacteria to remain if not cleaned properly the bacteria will be incubated and grow faster then the embryos and your hatch rates can be very low.
  2. I always used chicken egg incubator with dish of water with large cellulose sponge (stands taller than dish) for humidity learn to candle you dont need humidistat just be sure they dry enuf not too much thats how you deal with enviromental variables anyhow be good. Best let ducks do the brooding honestly.
