How to make homemade incubator?

We are going to have some baby chicks hatching in about 11 days, I wanted to see if anyone knew how to make a homemade incubator.

  1. Take two "Critter" carriers. Place an aquarium heater (one that you can fully immerse in water) in the bottom of one with the cord running up the side and out. Place enough water in the carrier to cover the heater and then some. Place the second "Critter" carrier into the first, allowing the water to run up the side but not into the second carrier. Plug the heater in. Heat is provided as well as moisture. Gail
  2. Okay this is what I have used successfully as a homemade incubator: * 4-5 gallon plastic reptile container * one small bowl of water * glass fish tank thermometer * humidity gauge * 75 watt heat lamp (the black bulbs) * hand towel place on one side to help retain heat. I keep the temp between 96-98 degrees F. I turn the egg 4-5 times daily. If the water is going evaporating well enough on it own (I have to refill or add to every other day) I just let it do that. If not, then I drop a few drops near the eggs (not on them because if you put too much you can take a chance of drowning them) a few times a day. The humidity should be kept at around 50% although it is tough to keep this accurate.
