Chook Me!

simple homemade incubator?

can anyone tell me how to make a simple incubator by just using things you would typically find around the house? B.T.W this is for 1 duck egg so it does not have to be big

  1. a lamp with a lightbulb facing down toward the cage.
  2. You cannot make a home incubtor, unless you want a difficult task. I know I have tried, believe me. I have raised many a chick and it is tiring.
  3. ok this is what i did and it has worked GREAT! Supplies: styrofoam cooler ceramic light socket 25 watt light bulb dish of water something for bottom i used wood shavings picture frame glass thermometer instructions: 1. take the styrofoam cooler and the ceramic light socket and trace a hole the size of the light socket on the top of the styrofoam coolers lid and then cut it out and slide the light socket in there and then put some duct tape around it. 2. insert the light bulb into light socket. 3. cut out hole in front of cooler a bit smaller than the piece of glass and then tape it in from the inside and there is your viewing window. 4. put what ever you are putting on the floor of the incubator and then insert the thermometer. And glass of water. 5.turn it on and wait for it to get up to its max temp and then take a screwdriver and poke holes in it until you get it to the right temperature. 6.once you have it at the temp you want it at put the egg in and wait 28 days and you should have a baby ducky. I HOPED THIS HELPED P.S. i did this one myself and it works awesome there is a duck in it hatching as we speak and i hatched one already. thank you

  5. also remember that from day1-25 you need about 37.5C and 86% humidity. turn your egg about 5 times a day. then day 26-28 you need 36.9C at 94% humidity with no turning have fun!
