Will Putting Holes in my incubator decrease the Tempreature?

I'm going to put chicken eggs in my homemade incubator, the temp. is too hot at the moment about 104. Fahrenheit how can I make it between 98. and 102. Fahrenheit????

  1. You need to have a way to turn down the heat, if putting holes in the incubator accomplishes this, great. It's actually best to have a thermostat that will regulate the temperature to keep it between 98 and 102 degrees. I would recommend going to the Murray McMurray sight and seeing if you can purchase an incubator setup, or the components.
  2. Go to the pet store and buy a control to regulate the heat. Cost is about 15$ then you can turn the heat source down till temp desired. You can try to drill holes in it a few at a time to get the desired heat. The only trouble with this is as the temp on the outside of the homemade brooder changes so will the inside. You will have to watch temp.
  3. Yes, it will decrease the temp, but it will also decrease the humidity. You are gonna have to figure a way to reduce the temp with out holes.
