Which is a better heat source fo this?
Seriously, which is a better source for a homemade incubator: A desk lamp or a heating pad? I only ask this cause I want to try out the one I've made on an actual fertile egg. (no jokes!) thanks!

- well id say heating pad at bottom and desk light shining down it will get all around warmth
- A heating pad can be used for a brooder, but neither a heat lamp nor heating pad will work to hatch an egg. The temp and humidity have to be just right. An inexpensive chicken incubator will work.
- I believe a desk lamp at approx. 25 watts. people usually place two, one on either side of the incubator. It is very important to keep it at a certain temp....If I were you I would do a little more research on line or go up to the library and see if they have a book about it...make some copies...It's free!! Good luck!! Have fun!!
