Chook Me!

How do I keep it warm now got suggestions...please help!?

I have a 1 week old chicken egg that may be fertile. I've been keeping it warm using a homemade incubator I made myself using a plastic box, towels, a heating pad and a small container of water for humdity. I had planned to tell my parents about the egg but my Mom found the incubator today and seemed a little upset. I explained to both of my parents about the egg everything is ok, but now that my Mom has taken apart the incubator and has taken back the heating pad, how do I keep the egg warm now? I DON'T have a heat lamp and I don't think asking for the heating pad back is a good idea right now. Can anyone give me any suggestions on keeping this egg warm? I only have another 10 days before it possibly hatches and I would like some advice on how to continue incubating it.

  1. Try using a 40 watt light bulb, put it 12-16 inches away from the egg. Good luck.
  2. take a zip lock freezer bag or one like it.put a washing clothe under some water and wring it out. put the clothe in the microwave until it is just warm.. place the washing clothe in the freezer bag and wrap it in a hand towel. this will act as your heating pad. i would call your local zoo tomorrow and ask someone that deals with birds this question.or call the pet store for advice.
  3. I use an extension cord with two 15 watt night lights on it. A better heat source would be the above mentioned 40 watt bulb. A small desk lamp shining over the egg while the egg rests on a dark towel will help keep things warm.
  4. stick a stick up its butt and put him or her over the grill ... its what your going to do eventually
  5. im thinking that your mom does not want this egg to hatch and that sucks because by now it is developing.. so, i would get that incubator back or the bird is toast.. and well , i think that is what your parents want.. have you thought about what you are going to do witha real live chicken?
  6. put rice ..straight from the bag..into a sock and tie off the end...not too much..you don't want it too heavy...microwave it just so it is warm and lay it over the egg...it'll be lower light and like mother hen....i use this around my neck and shoulders .....one long tube sock....2 pounds of rice...and 2 minutes in the microwave...or for any part of your body..
  7. to keep it warm ? put it in boiling water. that will do it.
  8. u can bye an incubater or a heater and put the egg inches apart plus make the egg nest of grass and leaves i think it will work
