I have an 18 day old chicken egg that might hatch this friday! or later on. I have it in a homemade incubator the main heat source is a heating pad. I can't change the heat setting since it doesn't have a control. My folks have to go shopping today and pick up my older sister from work. I CAN'T leave the heating pad on while we're gone, someone suggested using a 40 or 60 watt bulb to keep the egg warm. I have a 15 watt bulb that gets just as warm but what I wanted to know is if I leave the bulb on with the egg on a towel to retain heat with the towel catch on fire by any chance? Please answer! I might be leaving soon and I don't want to lose this egg if its possibly alive. I forgot to add NO jokes or wise cracks allowed! Oh and by the way I DON'T have a chicken to keep the egg warm. I live in townhouse complex in Las Vegas.
