Which would probably work better??

I once made a homemade incubatior using the following: large plastic container with lid heating pad a clean tuna can with water(for humidity) towels I tested it out and it worked great(I HAVEN'T used it on a fertile egg, though) But which do ya think would owrk better, the homemade incubator I tried out or an ajustable desklamp? The temp inside gets to be about 98 to 100 degrees, is that ok?

1. The homemade incubator because its safer and will most likely get you a better result a desk lamp could work too but if I were you i'd use the homemade incubator.....i wouldn't take chances with just a desk lamp.
2. The incubator would probably work better. Can you tell what the temprature is inside there? What about the humidity? The desk lamp will more than likely dry out the egg. Instead of a tuna can, I would go with a clean glass for water. That way you can change it out so no bacteria grows. I also sent you an email with another idea about an incubator. Check it out.
3. I think your homemade incubator sounds good! But, I have one suggestion. If you made it out of a styrofoam container then it would better hold the heat. And you need some sort of thermometer to monitor the temp.
4. I'd go with the heating pad myself. I've had too many problems using the lamp thingy. Plus I'm afraid of the chicks burning themselves on the lamp if the container is too low! The brooder should be about 90-100, then slowly dropped in temp as the baby grows out its feathers. Heat is especially important to chicks in the first week of their life.
