Chook Me!

How come Roosters know when exactly the sun will rise so they start singing?

Well, I do not know the word so I say singing. How come even before the first light of Sun comes up they already know and start their noise to wake us up for those who live in Villages? Interesting question eh!

  1. Because they get morning wood before the sun comes up.
  2. They wear little Rooster Watches btw its called crowing not singing
  3. they have better vision and can see it off in the horizon??? i just made that up lawlz vote me man!
  4. OMG- thats a very good question... How do they know?
  5. It could be that they have their biological clock programmed for the time that the sun comes up. Or maybe they can see it?
  6. It's called instinct, which a lot of animals and humans have. Similar to how a lot of animals are nocturnal, only active at night.
  7. uuuuh i dunno there just weird
  8. They have biological watch inside them.
  9. I live in Mexico where there are roosters all over the place...and they crow at all hours day and night...has nothing to do with sunrise. They crow at 2 in the morning and 7 in the evening and all hours in between. If they happen to crow at sunrise, I think it is purely coincidental.
  10. They don't. I've had roosters and they crow all the darn time. If you wake one up at 3am, he'll crow, I think it's just they start in the morning, because they're done sleepin', and it's time to start irritatin!
  11. It might be genetic. They also hear other birds. Some days, when I come home late from a party, little birds start singing, and soon after that, my neighbors rooster.
  12. They crow at random really, we have a rooster and if the moon is out he'll crow in the wee hours before the sun is up. Summer is the worst, he just seems to crow all the time. . . cock-a-doodle-doo!
  13. Because brains are like alarm clocks. They have a sense that tells them when the sun will rise. (my brothers friend saw this in a magazine.)
  14. I clicked the interesting button by accident so forget about that...
  15. Technically they crow any time, it doesn't have to do with dusk alone. But I suppose the reason they know is well... i think animals have a "sixth sense". The same reason birds stay DEAD QUIET when an earthquake is about to happen. Scary huh? It's a fact. Certain animals go all crazy when a disaster is about to happen and some lie still like they're praying.
  16. It is their biological clock they know when the sun rises and crow! Cocka-doodle-do!
  17. I have always wondered that too, but now I know why. God made them that way when he created animals.
