why is CO2 used in cell culture incubator? is it related to pH and NaHCO3?

In cell culture incubator, 5%CO2 is used. Why?

1. Yeah when you dissolve CO2 in a solution it makes the solution acidic. So, yes CO2 in a cell incubator is used to control the pH. Hope this helps.
