how to find amount bacteria on a desk?

if i wanted to find the amount of bacteria that would grow on a desk, how would i find that out? would i NEED to use agar and incubator? what would i use to place the bacteria from a desk onto the agar if a desk is solid. a Q-tip? wet tissue? please help. thank you, and be specific.

1. Hey! Great question. Use a cotton budd on place lemon juice on it. Wipe the desk and place the used cotton budd in a bag. Take it to a local laboratory or school science room and ask them if they could identify the level of bacteria.
