How much would it more than likely cost to buy two roosters?

I'll add more details as needed. Okay, I'm just asking cause my sis's dog and mine accidentally got out and killed two roosters, and the owners want $400 for them, but I thought that was way too much. I don't think they were special roosters or anything.

2. that is stupid and unbelievable price for a rooster they would be $20 each tops
3. You can buy standard, run of the mill roosters, as chicks at a farm supply store in the spring for 2 or 3 dollars each.
