- It should normally happan at the appropraite mating season or attempt to simulate it by looking it up on google, have fun with the new chicks if it's successful.
- By having more than one male you will be able to grantee on fertile eggs, two or more males will call and display with the stronger one getting the most hens to mate
- I have bred quite a number of Chinese Quail in incubators, normally you can sex them at 12 weeks the males will be darker brown than females they also develop a white patch on their throats they also develop a blue gray feathering on their heads, females are just brown. Its great when they hatch just like a swarm of bumble bees. They will not fight till about 24 weeks when they come to maturity and want too take on mates.you can run 3-4 hens with one male. You need pheasant or game bird rearing pellets these have to be crushed small enough for the chicks to eat the reason for these are that they prevent Blackhead and Coccidosus you will be able to purchase these from a poultry feed merchant beware when you put water in for the chicks it is best to place a 6in.bird cage drinker for the water for some unexplainable reason they will try to climb into other water drinkers resulting in drowning or chilling there are various mutations but the males will show the white collar.Good luck
- It really depends on what color varieties you have. The last person above me to post - that's only for generic button quail (sorry, that's how I know them as). If you have whites, creams, etc., you're going to have a tough time sexing them unless you just wait for them to start laying eggs. I certainly hope they aren't all related - because if they are and you breed them, you're just going to run the risk of winding up with a bunch of genetic defects in the long run. Try checking out the following website link for color pictures and some sexing help. I've actually ordered button quail eggs from this ranch, too.. and had great birds as a result. Good luck :) http://www.ncws.com/mcdonald/Birds.htm
