My Chicken Casserole Too Salty.Help?

I made Broccoli & Chicken casserole but it taste too salty.and actually I don't put salt in it.What can I do to reduce the salty taste? I use cream of chicken and a little mayonaise and milk.Help me please.....

  2. well, okay, maybe someone else salted it when you weren't looking; or maybe you used salt by mistake; but otherwise cream of chicken soup has a lot of sodium (salt) in it, and maybe the mayonnaise. check labels for sodium content!

Theres not such you can do but when i had this problem I got another pot and started again then added it together by doubling the mix you cut down on the salt per serve also dont add those products they will have added salt in them as well try a cup of cream and fresh milk or ones that have no added salt good luck
  4. Ok this is an old chefs trick that works great cut up a few big potatoes , put them in the casserole and continue to cook it, the potatoes absorb the salt somehow. If the chicken and vegies are already cooked, take them out and cook the potatoes in the stock thats left, then add other stuff back later. Good luck
  5. add some sour cream to the mix, that should thicken it, and make it less salty all in one hit........
  6. If your ingredients have a high sodium contents then you may just dilute it more with water but the it will thin your casserole so maybe you may use some cornstarch to thicken it again. If you dont want to dilute it, you may add potatoes. Potatoes tend to absorb saltiness from any dish, that will help.
  7. Are you looking for a way to do it right next time or fix it this time? For next time, the salt has to come from somewhere. At least one of your ingredients had the salt in it. Find out which one and change it. For this time. There's really nothing you can do. You can't take salt out once it is in. Trying to dilute the salt taste by adding more stuff is just a waste. Best to start again from scratch.
  8. Broccoli has it's own salt.Chic has a good idea but I don't know it is going to work for you or not.
  9. peel a potato, cut it in half and place both halves in the casserole. You might have to put it back in the oven if it is cooled too much, but the potato will absorbe the excess salt, no need to cook the potato all the way through, it's just acting as a sponge
  10. Put 3 potatoes in soup will absorb salt in potatoes
  11. add more chicken brocolli; you can also put quarters of potatoes in things that are too salty, that will draw the salt out, but if your cassarole is already cooked, that won't work. You could cook some rice, with no seasonings and add that to it.
  12. they have low sodium cream of chicken now, you wanna buy that. I used it and now when I use the real stuff I feel like I salted the hell out of my dish. Maybe you were using it to begin with and didn't realize it then bought the real stuff? Just a theory.
