Chook Me!

isnt this strange?

ok so my moms church had a memorial yesterday for a member who died of a heart attack, but get this... 1. there was food there 2. the lady had just keeled over from a heart attack & they were serving buttered rolls, broccoli cheese casserole, brownies, cake, & fried chicken...I mean seriously people, whats the message..."she had a heart attack, you can too"...and whats the saving grace here...the broccoli? ooh wow. 3. Yea we knew the lady kinda well, & yea our name is still on the church roster, but we havent even been since LAST easter(& get this...my mom screwed up the memorial time so we didnt even get to go), but STILL, they thought of US 1st as "those who could use the leftovers"...yea, grateful, but...what the heck? I find all of this to be if not crazy then at least odd. Does anyone agree, & what do u agree with...and if you disagree...why? Lemme know. Also, please NO rude or pointless answers. Thanks. (=

  1. um what were you takling about
  2. From wat i can understand, it was ignorant of them
  3. that is mess up come on they can do better then that they r surpose to be church people
  4. all of those foods.. in moderation... arent BAD for you..... sounds like a typical Southern wake to me.....
  5. Wow... that does sound a little weird that they would serve all that heart clogging food... especially since she keeled of a heart attack. But if they were to serve veggies and tea or some other healthy stuff... don't you think you would have the same smart a$$ remark like... "oh, yeah, what the heck, little late to be thinking healthy". Be glad you're alive and quit spending your days complaining!
  6. wow.......unfortunately this "story" is extremely funny....like a comedic sketch........although sad and so true! i would have never looked at it like that but yes.....i agree....not enough thought went into meal preparation there. BUT,you have a humorous way of telling your ill-fated stories! i have to give a star for this thoughtful question too! take care....and no fried foods!
  7. I agree it is odd, why would they send you the leftovers if you haven't been to church since last easter. How do they know you as "those who could use the leftovers" if they havn't seen you in a while. And then there is the food they served all greasy and artery clogging, what are they trying to say? Hopefully you don't take this as rude or pointless because it is not meant to be.
  8. That is what you do when people die. You get together and eat comfort food, it's got nothing to do with how the person died. And food alone does not cause heart attack - it is the lifestyle that goes with it. As for the church thinking of your family - that is what they do, and usually people appreciate the help, you will know this when you have to support a family of your own. As far as being crazy or odd, EVERYTHING people do when somebody dies is a little crazy or odd, but comforting to many who are affected by the loss of that person. Think about it - most of the time when somebody dies, they slap makeup and good clothes on the body and show it to all their family and friends - then people touch and kiss it!
  9. No Sorry I don't agree. Memorials are to celebrate the deceased life. There has to be food,no matter what they are serving. These things happen everyday. I really hope I understood what you were trying to say.
  10. You want a non-pointless answer to a pointless question? People eat food. What a surprise! You knew her "kinda" well. So it would have been nice if you had attended. What happened? They just brought the leftovers around later? I disagree that this is crazy. I think you just want to complain about something. I hope this isn't too rude for you.
