Chook Me!

I am making chicken wings in my crock pot and I have some Teriyaki marinade in a bottle, how do I cook it?

The chicken wings are frozen. The teriyaki marinade says to pour it over chicken and then let it marinate in the fridge for 30+ minutes. Can I just pour it on my wings in the crock pot and let them cook in there? How long do I cook them for on high or low? How do I know when the wings are done?

  1. Never cook chicken wings in a crock pot. You need to get the skin to crisp up so a high oven temp would be much better. If you want to add a sweet sauce like teriyaki then add it when the wings are fully cooked or almost ready
  2. Pour the sauce over the wings and cook em. After they are done, put a spoonful of cornstarch in a couple ounces of water and dissolve. Pour it in the sauce left over in your crock pot. It will thicken into a nice teriyaki glaze for your wings.
  3. To Cook chicken wings in a crock pot, If you have time defrost the wings in cold water in a bowl in the sink, keep replacing the cold water, only takes about 1/2 hr. otherwise they will be a little watery. if no time just place in pot on high, and put sauce on top and cook3-4 hours.
  4. you really dont have to marinate if you are going to use a crock pot. you just put everything in it and let it go, If you are planning on starting them in the morning and eating them at night then you should cook them on low, which is really the best way to cook anything in the crock pot. but if you are going to cook them and eat them sooner then cook them on high.
  5. the easiest way to do this is marinate the wings (while still frozen is fine) for about a hour. take them out of the marinade & bake them for 30-45 minutes. if you are wanting to keep them warm throughout the evening then place them in the crock pot. if you have a WARM setting on the crock use that otherwise keep it on low & they will be fine
