Do you think dogs should not eat raw chicken wings ?

A lot of people think you should not give chicken bones to dogs. What exactly do you think dogs ate in the wild ? They are designed to eat whatever they can catch, including chickens. Dogs are just domesticated wolves; are you people seriously telling me wolves can't eat a raw chicken ? Splintering of bones is not a problem for raw chicken. The problem is COOKED chicken, and cooked chop bones etc anything cooked. (Fried onion is especially bad, so be careful when you barbecue)The heat involved changes the chemical composition of the bones and makes it much harder for the dogs stomach acids to digest. Mostly you still don't have a problem because the acid is so strong, but you'll never have a problem with raw bones. Chicken wings are great for puppies, helps clean their teeth.

2. Raw chicken is a prime source of salmonella infection. If your dog gets it, he will get very sick, and you could get it too. Wild dogs and domestic dogs do not have the same nutritional needs, digestive abilities, or life spans. How long do you think your domesticated pet dog would survive in the wild? I'd love to hear what your vet has to say about giving raw chicken wings to puppies. You are correct about the splintering being more a problem with cooked bones than with raw ones.

4. dogs are NOT wolves, total difference. cooked meat and watch the additives, a good quality dog food is best and veggies are not unheard of for dogs as well as some cheese products. do some research, you'd be surprised at what you'd find out you don't know.
5. my dad raises dogs and has recieved his cdx and many other awards on many of our dogs. He uses something called the barf diet for all of our dogs and it is considered to be one of the healthiest diets out there for dogs. It may vary from each breed but overall it is a very effective diet.

These people obviously haven't done their research...raw bones are great for dogs teeth and coat...but I don't think it should be their only meal, as it's so hard on their digestive system...but no it won't make them sick. I absolutely refuse to give my dog cooked chicken bones, way too splinter-y. But puppies? They are growing, they don't need to worry about fighting off the bacteria in uncooked chicken. So what was your question anyway?
7. I feed my kennel raw chicken all of the time. 1. Dogs don't have the same digestive systems that human beings do. They are much more tolerant of bacteria. Dogs eat disgusting things all of the time without getting sick. Eating fresh, raw chicken shouldn't harm them a bit. 2. Most people who feed raw chicken are feeding stuff they buy in the store -- i.e. human-grade chicken that has been USDA inspected and gone through quality control inside the plant. This doesn't always ensure that the chicken is completely safe, but in this day and age it's pretty likely. My dogs get raw wings, thighs, and meat on a weekly basis, especially in the winter when they are working in harness. I have not seen an issue with feeding raw chicken in 10+ years of feeding raw foods. As long as the chicken is raw, the bones are like cartilage, easily ground up and digested by the dog.
8. yeah pet dogs so different from wild ones i wouldnt say give a dog chicken bones as they can splinter and really cause damage, raw meet on the other hand i had people do it dont know what effect it has but i personally would say cook it for the dog lol if your unsure stil lask your vet but dont make your dog ill through ignorance
9. Yeh and dogs couldn't make a fire and cook themselves a meal in the wild!! I am always amazed at people giving dogs massive amounts of ham fat - you wouldn't eat it so why give it to the dog!
10. Well...do as you wish...however... My huge Golden Retriever found a T-Bone Steak bone someplace and swallowed it. It lodged in her intestines and had to be surgically removed to the tune of 4,000.00..If you think its worth the risk..be my guest!

12. I agree with you but a lot of people will not because they already know everything . The dog food companies, that have only been around for the past 60 years, told them what to believe and of course the dog food companies would not exaggerate the truth or lie to line their pockets. I guess to actually think about what dogs ate before the dog food companies "came up" with the perfect food is too much for the average person. Their minds are impervious to common sense. I have been a raw feeder for many years. Keep up trying to educate!!!
13. dogs should never be given chicken bones,,as they shatter and get stuck in the dogs throat,,pork bones upset thier tummys lamb and beef are safe enough for them
14. A lot of these people don't know what they are talking about. You are right, cooked bones are bad for dogs, My friend thinks it's ok to feed his dog cooked chicken bones and his poor dog gets bloody diarreah, I don't know why he keeps feeding his dog cooked chicken bones. Anyway, usually dogs don't like raw chiken anyway, cause the flavor is only brought out when cooked, and it's flavor they want not the meat.
15. I feed my dogs a straight raw diet, which consists of raw chicken quarters, raw beef liver, raw chicken gizzards and hearts, raw pork neck bones, pigs feet. Anyways u name it our dogs get it. Raw is the best diet for a dog, I agree with your opinion whole heartedly. Raw bones are soft and do not splinter. I swear by raw ! I always get compliments on my dogs. Their coats are shiny and beautiful, they don't have the dog "smell" their teeth are in great shape and they dont have dog breath. I highly recommend raw and Kudos for you for getting some REAL info out there!
16. you need to check out the BARF or raw diet. there are many websites you can check to get the accurate information on this type of diet.
17. How do you plan on getting the bones out of their stomach when it punctures the lining and they are throwing up blood? They will have very clean teeth before they die or get rushed in for surgery.
