What part of chicken is a hot wing?

Hot wings come in 2 shapes, the one with the split bone, and the one that looks like a mini-drum stick. My friend says that the mini drum stick is just a young chicken leg. I understand the the wing, but where does the mini drum stick come from?

6. Serious?? No the mini drum is the shoulder to the elbow of the chicken arm. The 2 shapes you are eating makes up one whole wing. The third wing tip is usually discarded at most restaurants

8. If you cut a chicken wing at the joints you get 3 pieces, one is th etip of the wing and the other 2 are used for hot wings The "drumette" is the part that attaches to the chicken's body

14. The chicken wing has 3 parts. There's the bony useless tip that's good for soup stock. That gets cut off and discarded, or saved for stock. Then you cut the remaining part of the wing in the joint, giving you the lil drumette (which was connected to the chicken at the shoulder) and the double boned piece (which was next to the useless tip). Those 2 pieces are used for hot wings, and the various wings prepared in different sauces, and styles.
