Chook Me!

I have a frozen bag of chicken wings that I am trying to cook in a crock pot ...?

I want to slow-cook the wings in my crock pot for tomorrow night's game. I have a recipe for a sauce but I'm not certain how I should go about doing this. Do I need to bake the wings in the oven first and then place them in the crock pot with the sauce? They are frozen but not cooked. The directions on the bag tell you to baste the frozen wings, bake on one side for 20 minutes, then flip them, baste them again, and bake for 20 minutes. I don't want them to fall apart or get too soggy in my crockpot so I'm not sure if I should bake them and then slow cook them, put them in unbaked and frozen, or defrost them and put them in unbaked. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance!

  1. Spicy Chicken Wings ! Crockpot chicken wings with Ranch dressing sauce. INGREDIENTS: 3 tbsp. vinegar 24 chicken wings, drummettes 1/4 c. hot pepper sauce, or less 1/2 c. melted butter 1 pkg. Hidden Valley Ranch original dry salad dressing mix PREPARATION: Preheat oven to 350°. Mix all ingredients together except chicken wings and salad dressing mix. Place chicken wings in baking dish or jelly roll pan in a single layer. Pour sauce mixture over wings. Sprinkle with dry dressing mix. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until browned. Sprinkle with paprika if you like. To cook in crockpot, combine ingredients, cover, and cook on low 4 to 5 hours.
  2. The easy way. Place wings in crock pot. Combine all ingredients for your sauce and pour over chicken. Cook on low 6 to 8 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours. (if starting with frozen wings give more cooking time) Check 1/2 way into cooking time, if you watch closely you will not have over-cooked wings. Add-on. Putting frozen wings in the crock is not going to hurt anything. I've been doing it for over 10 years in the same pot and no problema!
  3. Broil your chicken wings for about 10 minutes each side then place in your crockpot with your sauce and let em cook....I do this all the time. They always turn out great.
  4. do not put the wings in the crockpot while they are frozen, this can break the crockery. If you want to just keep them heated in the crockpot, follow the package directions and then when they are finished cooking and have cooled, place them in th crockpot. Big time important do not put frozen or hot liquids in your crockpot.
  5. Crockpot wings turn to mush. Season and bake them on a cookie sheet (or fry them)
  6. This is what i do and its really simple and i swear probably one of the best wings you will ever have: Thaw chicken wings: In a ziploc bag put garlic salt, white pepper if you have if not black pepper, a whole bottle of hot sauce (whatever you prefer, a teaspon of sugar, 1 lemon squeezed. Put thawed wings inside the ziploc bag and if you are cooking a lot you can also just do this in a bowl. Mix or shake the wings. Let sit for about 20 mins, longer is better. Put on a baking sheet, bake at 350 and last 5 mins bake at 450 to make it crunchy. About 20-30 mins depending on what kind of oven you have. Its really easy and soooooooo good.
