Did the country apologize to The Dixie Chicks?
A few years back, I was traveling in Houston, where I turned on one of the local stations. People were calling up bashing the Chicks, and the stations stopped pIaying their songs. I believe alot of people should openly and publicly apologize to The Dixie Chicks. The remarks that got Natalie(?) in trouble with the cowfolks, now seem to be quite prophetic. One would think those folks would be quite ashamed and emberessed for making 2 bad judgements.

- They are still pieces of shit.
- for what, buying their crappy music?
- The Dixie Chicks have a right to voice their opinions; Americans have a right to turn their backs. No apology necessary.
- No.... and you should be B**ch slapped for suggesting it.
- Are you kidding? Son, Americans never apologize for anything.
- They insulted our president while in another country. I am not buying into the media and democratic view on things. Bush is kinda ditsy, he doesn't seem to care about getting his message out, and some of his policies are bad. However, every intel agency in the world, including a Clinton apointee CIA director, said Sadam had WMDs and we knew he used them to kill tens of thousands of Kurds, Iranians, and other Iraqis. Bush recently put into place a plan to decrease the violence in Iraq and it is working. Bush's tax cuts grew our economy at the fastest rate in two decades. Bush has been pushing for years that we drill more for oil or the price will go up... look what happened.
- In this country, you have something called freedom of speech. The Dixie Chicks had the right to say whatever they wanted to. This is also true of any caller who called in. A radio station has the right to play or not to play any music they wish. If your listeners do not want to listen to the Dixie Chicks, you stop playing their music. I don't see where any apology is needed. The Dixie Chicks did not understand what their customers (those who listen to country music) wanted, insulted a lot of them, and lost their careers as a result.
- Dixie Chicks was given awards for their great songs even when they were chastised in Texas. They deserve an apology.
- The opinions expressed were the presonal opinions of the callers. You would have to go to each of the and request that they do so. Don't hold your breath. I don't like them either and consider it my right to free expression under the 1st amendment to say so. You know, the same right they were using.
- I am reminded time and time again why I would not survive in America. Being patriotic is one thing but being blindly loyal to one who was SO wrong, it makes me think of China under a dictatorship. Blind loyalty. And it still goes on now even years later when things have turned out the way they have. All you guys can say is "Hey, you may have been right, but you said something bad about our President." If they said the same thing now, no-one would bat an eyelid.
- Apologize for what? They went overseas and decided to brownnose an audience they figured was anti-Bush. Many people think that stuff like that should stop at our shores. But, if you want an apology... I'm sorry they (and you) are libtards.
- In a sense they did, because their recordings are selling better than ever. I am a fan too because of their courage and principles. Their movie Shut Up and Sing , was awesome too.It nailed all the haters starting with Bush
- I agree Louis S we are Americans and we have the right to speak our minds. I don't think the Dixie Chick did anything wrong so they didn't believe in what Bush did. I bet there is alot of people believe the same thing. Including me look at all the lives that was was lost and for what WMD's. We all know by now there was no WMDs. I agree that Saddam was a bad guy but, I don't think he was worth losing over 4,000 our soldiers. I know we are making progress in Iraq but, what's to say once we leave that they bad guys that was there rebuild their forces and re invade Iraq again. The station I listen to has a new program manger and he plays their songs now.
