What do you think about the Dixie Chicks song, "Not Ready to Make Nice"?
What do you think about the Dixie Chicks song, "Not Ready to Make Nice" I think it shows how brave you can be. Instead of being conquered by fear they marched straight ahead and broke down walls. It is very inspiring to me. I don't know why most of our american society thinks it is unpatriotic to ask questions and criticize officials. I think it is totally opposite not to ask questions and exercise our freedom of speech ammendment. Stand up for what you believe. Our founding fathers didn't build this country being quiet, they rose hell! Being silent causes more deaths than any disease, cancer, and/or murder all together. Call people in congress! Take a stand!!! I am very proud of you ladies! They are also better role models than brittney, paris and lindsey. Why don't people throw a fit over that?

- Dixie what! Never heard of them.
- Dude...I hate country music but you frickin nailed that song. I am so happy they won the grammy for it. (plus I have personal ties to the song) YOU ROCK
- My respect for the Dixie Chicks grows each day.
- Lame is what I think. They apologized for the remarks they made, then write a song taking the apology back.Typical Liberals.Be proud indeed.
- I hope they like playing it in Canada. By the way, how many concerts did they have to cancel? The simple fact is they alienated their fan base and are now paying the price. They are also finding out how much support they can get from the more liberal side, which is next to none. They sold no tickets, they said they didn't care if all they had is just a few fans who got them, well now they do and those fans don't buy tickets.
- They went abroad, and bad mouthed a standing President, and America. There is nothing brave about that.
- I don't listen to their trash~!
- THEY ARE IDIOTS and dumb ones at that! Did you ever hear them interviewed? They are stupid and don't make sense.
- I'm not a Dixie Chick fan ,but I do like that song and the way they handle their self's .I totally agree with every thing you have said ,That's suppose to be the U S of A, from your neighbor up north
- Like I have said...say all you want about our dirty laundry in this country but go abroad and open your mouth and you become a traitor.
- I like it a lot. its a great piece of work and very inspiring I think it points out a very big issue- that people would treaten her life for what she said (that they'd write me a letter, saying that I oughta shut up and sing or my life will be over) no speech/statements is worth harming another person over
- Judging by the Grammy's tonight there are plenty of people who like their music and their message. So they practiced freedom of speech by expressing there opinion. Thank goodness we live in a country where we can do that. You don't have to agree with what they say, but be glad that we as citizens of America have that right. Would all the people who are bashing them rather live in a country where we don't have the right to free speech? There are plenty of other people who criticize and don't get raked over the coals like the Dixie Chicks did. Some people are really losing sight of what it means to be an American and obviously don't appreciate it.
- The middle part in which she exposes the terrorists who attacked her (the "shut up and sing or your life will be over" guy in particular) is really something that needs to be said. I bought the CD, and love it. Bought an earlier one of theirs as well. I'm not that fond of the song overall, but they did a great job responding to the attacks. Game, set, and match go to the Dixie Chicks on that one, and right-wing terrorist guy: they made an utter fool out of you. Hah hah. ============ I'd love to hear the tortured logic that leads someone to think that our freedom of speech ends when we go overseas, and one becomes a "traitor" when criticizing people like Bush when abroad. That's just silly - if you can't make your point sensibly, it's better to just accept that you're wrong. Bush is a complete screw-up, and I'll support the United States by saying that out loud here, in France, in Germany, in Japan, and wherever I want to say it. That makes me a patriot, not a traitor.
- i love that song. like a bunch have said its inspiring. i want to point out something to all of those who dont like them because they said what was on their minds, you keep bad mouthing them because they bad mouth, what i feel, is the worst president we have ever had. that makes you just as bad as you think they are. ok so she said something that she was thinking. how many times have you had enough of someone and decided to tell them off, or say something you later regreted coming out of your mouth but acctually meant, well thats all that happened. have you ever said you didnt like someone? or said that you were ashamed of something? if so and youre still bad mouthing them for it, youre a hypocrite. i think that they are awesome and if you have something bad to say about them just remember thats what your mad at them for, ya know, saying something bad about someone.
- brave? Please they are idiots. They alienated their fan base and then made a song that brought the whole mess up again. I was ready to make nice and enjoyed their music but, if they want to keep playing the martyr I am not "ready" to spend my money on their music
- I like it.
- Be proud all you want, but their home town isn't!. And neither am I.
- I think that they should stop whining and suck it up and move on. They thought they could dish it out and not have to take it, but they have now realized that they are wrong. I used to be a big Chicks fan, and I really enjoyed their older music. This new album is nothing but a scream of "Poor Me".
- I have liked the Dixie Chicks for a long time and I am very happy that they took a stand and criticized the president. TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO DON'T AGREE ME WITH ME: everyone has their own opinions and what the Dixie Chicks did was inspirable and great. Anyway, I think that what they did was great and to all the fans who never stopped loving their music, I'm with you.
- I'm with you 150% man. The song is inspiring, and proves that these ladies aren't going down without a fight. Most importantly, they are showing that they aren't afraid to express their beliefs, even if it does cost them a few fans and some album sales. A TRUE fan would never stop liking a musician's music simply because they have different beliefs. And the DCs true fans, like me and several other folks on this board, have stuck by them all along. I think they are excellent American role models, something the music industry is seriously lacking these days. And who cares if country radio doesn't play them? They get played on several other channels, getting their music out to far more people than they would if they were still on country radio. They have crossed over to mainstream, something many country artists WISH they could do!!!!
- I don't think she should have apologized about what she said, I would say the same thing. I really like the song.
- I love that song so much.My love for the Dixies Chicks is growing over time.I respect them and they r my fav band. They r so brave to do a thing like that.
