Remember back when the Dixie Chicks dissed Bush and people got mad at them? Do they owe them an apology?
A lot of people started bad mouthing them and radio stations started refusing to play their music. Now with Bush's approval ratings in the toilet, most of the rest of them have come around. Shouldn't they send them a card or something?
Public Comments
- I don't. I threw away their CDs.
- Hell no i can't stand those whiny b*tches.
- I thought that was a crock that their careers were ruined over that. This is a free country and they were exercising their right to free speech.
- Yes. The Dixie Chicks should apologize to America.
- No we don't because they are still a bunch of ditzes who have no idea why Bush should be badmouthed.
- i was surprised by that...so many people say bad stuff about him. What made the Dixie Chicks so special? I do think we owe them an apology.....but then again, they have millions of dollars and im taking financial aid to go to college. So then again i dont really care
- No and if Obama were the next president and someone said the same about him I wouldn't expect them to receive an apology either. It doesn't matter who is president, everyone should have enough respect for our president to not bad mouth them in other countries. If you don't like the president then fine, but if you go out of your way to make this known to people outside of the U.S. at that then you are childish and are looking for attention.
- No that would be undeserving of them. Sheesh they are a singing group, what do they know!
- no. 99% of punk bands and rock bands have hated on bush (yes punk died in the 80s) but no one ran out beating up kids with mohawks or hateing on rock stations. just someone got mad because someone was actually speaking there mind and using there rights (wow what a concept) and dident like it so insead of making free speach illegal they distroyed there music career.
- It blows me away how this administration has polarized the population. How can anyone justify ostracizing someone because they disagree with misguided policies. I thought we had a right to free speech.
- Most of the people who still haven't come around are country fans, so I think it'll be a while before the Dixie chicks get an apology. Although I agree with the statement they made... I still don't like their music. So it's kind of a wash... Pied Piper... You bought their CD and then threw it away.... LOL... That's pretty stupid. I'm sure they don't care what you did with it after you PAID for it...
- No. But I'm glad they did that. In watching some highlights the other day of Bill Russell, sitting at a podium with Jim Brown and Muhammad Ali, supporting Ali for not going to Vietnam, I began to believe that freedom peaked around that time. Just to take a stance like that as a Hall of Fame athlete, you couldn't get away with that these days. Rich people rarely take a stance in either direction, due to the public outlash.
- They were still wrong in where they chose to make their statement. And it is every fans right to NOT buy their product
- The apology owed should be because of their lack of talent, especially by their lead whiner, the porkster Natalie Pains. I can't tell you how many sets of speakers she cracked with that nasally, thin voice of hers. Unfortunately I could not change the station fast enough. You gotta love those Dixie Sluts!
- Yes, they do.
- are the dixie chicks even still around
- NOT AT ALL!!!! They made anti-American statements at a time of war when thousands of American civilians had just been murdered by terrorists. These women are not worthy of being called Americans. They are still as disgusting today as they were in 2002 when they made their anti-American statements. EDIT for Kathleen O, your statement is a perfect example of what has created such hatred of the Bush Administration. You are attributing something to the administration that did not and never did take place. It was not Bush or his administration that rebuked the Dixie Chicks. It was the American People! We chose to ignore them, their music, their concerts, and their accomplishments because they were acting anti-American. We, the people disagreed with them and we still do today.
- I remember that. I was like why are white people so hypocritical? So their political views stopped people from liking their music. I even like their music. But you guys are so dramatic about things. I don't like the fact that Michael Jackson is a perv but if he comes out with a banging cd I'm gonna buy that joint!!! Yes they owe them a big apology. And stop being so damn dramatic.
- Hopefully they get to sing at the next Presidential inauguration. Honesty and intergrity in the face of so much bitterness should be admired and rewarded. As the saying goes "Evil flourishes while good men do nothing."
- You go on and do that, all celebrities have the right to say what they want and guess what? The people still have the right to not buy their stuff or go to their concerts. It's called knowing your audience and keeping your mouth shut.
- They don't owe the DC an apology. Instead they owe the nation an apology for not having the courage to question our government and accept the status quo. The DC were right and never did anything wrong.
- yes, they do. But as far as the public as a whole and the music industry - it think they did 'make nice' already: updated 9:49 a.m. ET, Mon., Feb. 12, 2007 LOS ANGELES - The Dixie Chicks completed a defiant comeback on Sunday night, winning five Grammy awards after being shunned by the country music establishment over the group’s anti-Bush comments leading up to the Iraq invasion. The Texas trio won record and song of the year for the no-regrets anthem “Not Ready to Make Nice.” They also won best country album.
- The main reason people were mad at the Dixie Chicks is that they dissed Bush in a foreign country. It was kind of like you can't hit my brother only I can. I still can't listen to them. I switch the channel or turn of the radio until there song or interview is over. We do not owe them anything.
- Absolutely wing nuts should apologize to the Dixie Chicks, one of my favorite bands. If any body thinks it is okay to mail death threats to Natalie is wrong. The song "Im not ready to make nice" is a rebellion to the establishment, and Natalie should be embarassed to be a Texan because of Bush, I know I would be.
