Why did everyone start hating the Dixie Chicks?

I know there was a lot of controversy about the Dixie Chicks a few years ago. What exactly was all that about?

1. Because they are embarrased of our President.
2. because they bashed the pres and at the way wrong time. they showed disrespect when our military guys needed all the respect they can get.
3. Because they are traitors of America
4. Because,they said they we`re embarassed to be from the same place as the president of U.S.A.
5. They were talking down about our president. I think the reason that its such a big deal because type (I hate to say type but can't think of any other word) of people that listen to their music. Everyone else was writing patriotic songs at the time, and speaking about supporting the military, and they started talking down about it on TV.
6. She said bad stuff about President Bush!! She Dosent like him and she shouldnt have said what she said about him!!
7. well i guess alot of people are tired of them bad mouthing the president which in turn bad mouths the men and women over seas fighting for us everyday. you may not agree with the presidents choice but you should agree with him because he is supporting our country. this all started over her bad mouthing toby keiths song " courtesy of the red, white, and blue" where he says " we'll put a boot up their ass it's the american way" and i agree with him. if you don't like this country enough to support us then get the hell out of it.
8. One of them said she was ashamed that the President came from her home state of Texas. She was in a foreign country when she heaped this insult on the President, and she created an uproar in this country, something I am sure she never expected. We have only ONE President at a time, and we should support him (or her) and respect the office he/she holds. The Dixie Chicks obviously did not and continue to make excuses for the rude behavior of one of the group.
