How do you feel about the Dixie Chicks?

I'm referring to their political bluntness awhile back. Do we all agree, at this time, that they were right? Have you heard their song "I Don't Want to Make Nice"? I believe it is making reference to their political faux paus; don't you?

1. They oviously voted for Gore and are poor losers. Their looks and voices are so sexy! They can have my bed any day if they leave politics alone.
2. Not to nit pick but it's called "Not Ready To Make Nice" and IT IS a DIRECT reference to their political views.
3. I don't like their music, but I would buy them all a drink for standing up for what they believe in. Of course I would also like to punch Toby Keith in the balls, but what can ya do, ya know.

10. It totally is, and they've admitted to such. I think it's cool that they addressed it directly and aren't apologizing for it. Country can stand a little political diversity. I love their sound and I think this is their best CD yet. I agree with them. A lot of country artists, like Toby Keith, say things I disagree with, but I like their music anyhow. I wish conservative country fans could be a little more grown-up about things.
11. "Not Ready to Make Nice" is talking about their political views, comments and stance. The main problem with the Dixie Chicks is that they've forgotten that their fan base tends to be Conservitives and/or Christians of either political party...Not Libral Hollywood yahoos!

15. I don't think it was a faux paus - they spoke their mind and expressed themselves. It is sad state we are in when people who disagree with the government are called unpatriotic and are unable to freely express themselves without persecution. The song does reference their statement made against Bush and why should they have to make nice for speaking their opinions?
16. they have been black balled by their own fans. celebrities should not comment on world affairs. they are entertainers and should remain as such. if they wanted to make political statements they should run for office. they are officially black balled. they are from the red states and the citizens of the red states are or were their fans. bottom line they screwed themselves. it's one thing to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're dumb but it's quite another to open your mouth an let people know you're dumb.
17. I really like them. I don't normally like country, but I like their sound, and I love that they are ready to stand behind what they say and do, and stand up for what they beleive, it's kind of refreshing.
18. No, I don't think they were right. They have a right, as Americans, to freedom of speech. Conversely, I will exercise my right as a consumer not to support their endeavors. It irks me that they aired our "national" dirty laundry in a foreign country. I know a lot of people who have the same feelings about our president, but they keep it "in the family" I honestly can't stand actors or any entertainer who are mouthy about politics really. If you are a singer, sing. period. I get my news from CNN.
19. They have that right to say what they believe in. The repuke's don't like it but they never like the truth. If they had their way there would be no dissent against the president even though he is the worst that ever was.
20. I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions and should be free to express it. I feel this way towards Natalie and I also feel this way towards the people who spoke against her views. She should understand that people have the right to disagree with her views and choose whether they wish to buy her music or attend her concerts. If she does not wish for these things to happen then she might think about how vocal she wishes to be in public but is still her decision to make.
21. Musically I am not big into country music off hand... But I am a biiiig supporter for the 1st admendment... and using freedom of speech to its full use. Although country music isn't my first choice I do like their new song. Some of the lyrics are killer! People may not accept, agree, or like what the Dixie Chicks said but they expressed their opinion and I cant say that it was that far off haha. I think I more or less agreed with them when it was said. Maybe not right off hand but after the digestion of it there was a soul of truth.
22. I sent the following email to Toby Keith through his fan club stating my feelings about this, although I doubt that he probably ever saw it. Dear Toby, (email to Toby Keith's Fan Club) Toby Keith: FUTK ! FGWB ! Fthiswar ! Go Dixie Chicks ! To whoever monitors and manages this emailbox, please insure that Mr. Keith has the opportunity to personally view this message. Insulating people from criticism and presenting only the happy stuff only helps to inflate even further the fat egos that so many performers develop so easily anyhow. With the release if their newest album, the subject of YOU, Mr. Super Patriot, came up again, so I just wanted to share a few of my personal thoughts. I am not a very big fan of most of the country music of today, neither you or the Dixie Chicks, so this is not about music, it's about freedom of speech and patriotic love of one's country. George W. Bush is not America and doesn't speak for most Americans anymore, considering his current popularity ratings. Why you Bush loving rednecks can't comprehend the simple fact that hating this war and disagreeing with the president is NOT an act of treason is completely beyond my understanding. I'm not from Texas, but our current president is enough to embarrass any American. Apparently some, such as the manufacturers of the article of clothing shown below and marketed in France are embarrassed by President Dork Jr. also. It's a pretty sad state when someone feels a need to apologize to people as irritating as the French! *********************************** Note: this is a reference to a picture showing a tag on a fabric item manufactured in the U.S. and marketed in France. The tag included, with its care instructions, a comment similar to the remarks made by the Dixie Chicks about G.W. Bush. - (basically, it said "Sorry, just so you know, we didn't vote for this idiot.) (Okay, so that last remark about the French being irritating was probably uncalled for, but it may have gotten that redneck's attention. My apologies to the French.) Theodore Roosevelt stated in 1918: "To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." My feelings couldn't be stated better. Who's Unamerican, the person who takes a stand on what they beleive or the one who wants to suppress the freedom of speech of others? 23. I will not deny their talent, nor deny them the right to express their views. However, like so many public people, they should not be using their public forum to pursue their personal issues, unless they have specific education and experience in that field. Nor should people take notice of them, it is kind of like a drunk in a bar if you do not know what you are talking about, despite your opinion, shut up. If you want to criticize the handling of the war in Iraq, go there see for yourself what is going on and then do more than criticize, offer some constructive comments that are within the goals of the people managing the event.
