Chook Me!

What did the Dixie Chicks say about Bush?

I've been hearing things about how the dixie chicks said something bad about bush? What was it? I'm curious.. Is the song "not ready to make nice" about it too?

Public Comments

  1. They said that they were ashamed that bush is from texas, like they are. actually bush was born in connecticut...he's a wannabe cowboy/war hero.
  2. The lead singer said they were ashamed to be from Texas cause thats where Bush was from
  3. I think it was something like "We're ashamed to be from Texas because of George Bush"
  4. I think that song was for him!!! lol
  5. Natalie Maines said she was ashamed that the President was from Texas.
  6. they said Bring Out Troops Home
  7. That they were ashamed to have him come from Texas.
  8. I think they said something against the war and people just took it against the president so much for freedom of speech
  9. The Dixie Chicks faced a backlash in 2003 after singer Natalie Maines said the band were "ashamed" President Bush is from their home state of Texas. Yes, the song is about that. Funny thing was, the next time they toured and were in Texas, the singer did the same thing again! I still really like them, I don't care what they say about Bush as I am in Canada.
  10. Natalie Maines said: "Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.” The President responded: "The Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind. They can say what they want to say ... They shouldn't have their feelings hurt just because some people don't want to buy their records when they speak out ... Freedom is a two-way street ... I ... don't really care what the Dixie Chicks said. I want to do what I think is right for the American people, and if some singers or Hollywood stars feel like speaking out, that's fine. That's the great thing about America. It stands in stark contrast to Iraq..." "Not Ready to Make Nice" addressed the political controversy that surrounded the group after their remark about the President.
  11. They said that he was an incompetent butt hole and guess what they where right!
  12. The comments that they made was about 5 years ago, and yes that song is about what happened. They actually have a documentary coming out about it.
  13. "Just so you know, we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas." This is the comment made by the lead singer from the Dixie Chicks to a European audience. It was made during the patriotic frenzy post 9/11 and during the Bush administrations lies to get the US into war with Iraq. After Natalie (the lead singer) stated this there was a big controversy. And I do believe that song is about the entire deal
  14. Nothing more than millions say about him every day, everywhere. I assure you it was nothing interesting.
  15. natalie made comment about being ashamed of being from the same state (texas) as president bush. but you also have to look at it this way, they created controversy which is publicity, and everyone knows that there is no such thing as bad publicity, and to prove it, we are all commenting on a subject that is 5 years old. dixie chicks are still in the public eye over the bush comment. lol isnt that funny
