Chook Me!

Why does the Dixie Chicks sweeping the Grammys make Conservatives so Bitter and Angry?

Why are all the right wingers so bitter about the huge success of the Dixie Chicks? "Taking the Long Way" has been certified double platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA. It is also triple platinum in Canada, double platinum in Australia, platinum in New Zealand and gold in the U.K. and Ireland. Of all albums released in 2006, Taking the Long Way was the 6th biggest selling disc last year in the U.S. Additionally, “Not Ready to Make Nice” has now been certified a Gold digital single. CMT has announced that the Dixie Chicks’ “Not Ready to Make Nice” video is a first round nominee in three categories for the upcoming 2007 CMT Music Awards: Video of the Year, Group Video of the Year, and Video Director of the Year UNBELIEVABLE NIGHT! Dixie Chicks went five for five at the 29th Annual Grammy Awards on Feb 11 winning the big three general categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year, as well as Best Country Album and Best Country Performance By a Duo or Group.

  1. What a joke. It is just an embarrassing example of the naked politics in Hollywood. The less money I give to Hollywood the better.
  2. It was a token jester on the part of the left wing nuts.
  3. Do you even listen to country music? they are not so big any more. And switching over to Pop, they won't make it very long, it's in one day out the next!! They suck a s s
  4. They tried to shout them down and get country DJ's not to play their music. If this isn't a strong indication of the truth of the red staters being country bumpkins, I don't know what is.
  5. Right- that is why they have to cancel concerts all the time
  6. Again, who cares!
  7. The conservatives are POed 'cause it showed that THE TRUTH will always win and it can't be squashed by money and corporate ownership.
  8. Because it is all a political statement. It had ZERO to do with talent and all about biased judges and voters making a statemrnt rather than voting for the actual talent like you are supposed to as a Grammy voter. How can they win a country award when 98% of country music fans hate them and country radio won't play them. It's all a crock and totally nothing to do with music.
  9. LMAO you're the bitter one. your incessant talking about them will not sway anyone to listen to them. that's the beauty of freedom. they're free to do whatever and i am too. i don't HAVE TO listen to them and i don't HAVE TO like them. the fact that i am not alone seems to have you all upset though. wonder why.................
  10. Because they know they will lose on all the rationalizations of Bush being a 'good' president. So they have to pick on someone else because they've lost all their talking points in the political debate already.
  11. Because they want everyone to agree with them. They had the Senate and the House and the presidency and the Supreme court and most of the mainstream media and they whinned about "holyweird" and college professors and Michael Moore and that musicians should shut up and sing. Now they lost congress and they will lose the presidency soon and so the Chicks winning just rubs in how they are losing control of everything.
  12. And after all this is said and done no one plays thier videos or music in the US. It was the American Grammies remember. How about Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts who both sold many more times than the Dixie Chicks did. They were the number 2 and 3 albums in number of sales in 2006 only beaten by "highschoo musical" a disney soundtrack. I dont care about their politics, I am amazed that a group that is an "also ran" in sales and ticket sales is the "big winner". Guess this is just more proof of the farce we call the "Grammies". Long Live Milli Vanilli
  13. Its simple, altho there are many that hate the President, thats fine. But what is disgusting is going over to a foreign country at a time of war and denegrate the President and the United States. It shouldnt matter what political party you are with, that should bother every one.
  14. Because it is a sign that America has forgiven them for thier "anti-American" "Bush bashing" comment a few years back. They invested a lot of thier "media payoff money" to ensure they were made an example of, in the case other pop culture icons wanted to start speaking out against the current administration, and therefore sway the youth of the nation's view of the republican party. By awarding the Chicks a grammy, it says "all is forgiven becuase we are starting to see things your way." and from other countries "You were right." And that scares them. Especailly since the Dem's got control and are starting to investigate how things have been running over the last 6 years.
  15. The right wingers is a good term. They have to be 'right' or they are angry and bitter. I love the Dixie Chicks, agreed with Natalie from the beginning and applaud them for enjoying the freedom of speech patriotic Americans defend.
  16. Betcha if they supported Bush, you'd be calling them hillbillies. Oh,you know you would.
  17. Dixie Chicks? Nah,that's for chicks. Hahahahahahahaha!
  18. OMG, this is rich, those chicks are a success? I didn't know that being critically acclaimed in Canada was a good thing for country music. They cannot make concerts in the US because no one wants to see therm, but this apparently is good. Let them perform in other countries, that is obviously what the want. because let's face it, if they didn't trash bush the liberals would just be calling them trailer trash right now. We see how many went to their concerts, Let the ditsy chick go running into obscurity. I guess killing abusive men is OK but defending your country is an abomination. Their legacy is already written and they are of no consequence,
  19. The Dixie Chix gave Conservatives their medicine - they have proven that they are "Great Americans" - not Shawn and Rush ! "Not Ready To Make Nice" is a powerful song that gives me chills no matter how many times I hear it !!!
  20. Boy talk about ignorance being rampant. The right wing nut jobs here all love to talk about the fact that supposedly they won Grammys for political reasons. Not one category says, Grammy for the best political mindset is....... If that were the case, I guess the "Country" Grammy award to Carrie Underwood was political too. Bunch of twits. They won because the music is good. They sold over 2 millions copies of their album. Their songs are popular in the mainstream Just because most country bumpkins are easily led around by the rings in their noses by the Republican party, does not mean that everyone else is. The only time they like freedom of expression is when it is their version of freedom of expression. No one should else should have independent thought. They act like the 'Borg with the collective mind
