Is Lacoste becoming a new trend in hip hop?
I see it more and more in rap music videos these days. Recent examples include the video for "So Krispy", the gangsta that's rapping is sportin a couple different polos. And in DTP "Celebrity Chick", in the party scene, the guys are wearing different Lacoste polos too. Also, I see a lot of thugs wearing it at the mall with matching caps and sneakers and it looks sick. Now I see that Lacoste is becoming less on the preppy-side and becoming more 'hood'. When people wear Lacoste, it speaks for itself.

- seems like it
- idk
- lacoste was and is always expensive. just because ''hood'' people are wearing it..it doesnt mean anything. its like a polo shirt w/o the polo sign. its no difference with whom wears it or not.
- Don't know if it's the latest trend in hip hop and urban fashion but they are wearing it alot more.
- who knows the new style in hip hop it's always changing
- Or maybe rappers are becoming preppy! Seriously though no matter what kind of people wear it LaCoste will always be preppy. I just think that Hip/Hop and Rap artists are trying to make a better impression of themselves and dressing better.
- Honestly its made for everyone you they can wear it to wear it it dont say on the tag only for preps.
- That's a new one... I have been wearing Lacoste colognes for almost 20 years! Maybe time to change my brand!
- threy are payed to wear them by lacost, the clthing range is getting more popular so the company is advertisibg on celebs now to try an increase the already rising sales!
- Lacoste has been a trend in hip hop....since Pharrell came out really. Letigre is also. I happen to love Lacoste and IDC if ppl in hip hop or preppy ppl wear it. I wear it because I think it looks cute on me.
- Its a polo shirt with a gator on it, nothing "hood" about that. Im sure they buy it for the same reason we all do, they look good, and they are basic colors, not all gay and colorful like hilfiger makes nowadays. I remember when all the rappers used to wear Polo, but im sure since they see a rapper wear the clothes they are gonna go out and buy it too. Good marketing skills, lol
- i think hip hop has been going prep for awhile now. it kind of makes sense though, when people see lacoste and j.crew they think: expensive, rich. or atleast i do, cause those clothes cost alot! rappers and other artist want to look rich, luxurious and real prep clothes translate to that. no, not american eagle, and hollster, those are affordable. but lacoste and j.crew are very expensive. hip hop vids, most of them anyway, are these guys getting out of jets and partying in a mansion, as they throw money around. its a trend.
- LaCoste started making a big comeback in fashion about 5-6 years ago. Its basically a step up from Ralph Lauren Polo. Kanye West is the first rapper I really noticed to start with the preppy gear and that has started the trend. I don't know if LaCoste specifically is the new trend, so much as polos and preppier apparel in general. LaCoste is just the pricier brand, and you know how rappers are.
- Yes, I think Lacoste is getting bigger in the hip hop community. I was watching Flavor of Love (lol) and I saw a bunch of rappers on it and they were all wearing all different color Lacoste shirts. It's funny, though, that it is popular among rappers because Lacoste is generally associated with prep styles.
