what is the best way to clean eggs before placing into the incubators?

  1. why would you worry about cleaning them, What you should do is clean the hens nest, cause if you try cleaning the egg and you change the temperature of it, you will probably ruin the egg and it may never have a chance to hatch.
  2. I would use a dishwasher, but with mild dishwashing fluid.
  3. You don't clean eggs before putting them in an incubator. If your eggs are dirty do not use them. For very small dirt spots take a piece of fine grit sand paper or emery clothe. Then gently rub the dirt off.You really need to use clean eggs. When a chicken lays an egg it is coated with a type of natural antibiotic. The reason is so the egg doesn't become infected. If an egg gets to much dirt on it you really don't want to put that in an incubator the temps and humidity makes an incubator the perfect place to breed bacteria.Which could cause you to lose an entire hatch. If you wash the egg in anything what so ever you will disrupt and remove this nature antibiotic that is already on the egg.Sand paper will remove the dirt.Though as I said if the egg is so dirty it needs to be cleaned it doesn't really need to be put into an incubator.Removing the dirt will not remove any bacteria the dirt has already put on the egg.
