I have about 450 baby chicks and I had a stirform cooler out in the back yard.?
My baby chicks have been eating the cooler and this morning I seen that they have eaten the whole cooler. Will it hurt them? They have not been acting different but I'm worried and I really don't have the money to take all of them to the vet we are talkin g about 500 chicks or more. HELLO I don't know anyone who has that much money. Plz. Only serious answers Thank you.

- you could try calling the vet and ask them what they think, i would keep an eye on them. honestly i dont think stryofoam can be digested, so they will probably just poop it out good luck
- As a person who has chicks of their own, know that you should just keep an eye on them for a few days, but they should all be fine. Don't worry about it. Make sure they have plenty of water and it will help them move it through their system easier.
- How do you know they ate it and didn't just peck at it and the pieces blew away? I would think if they ate it they would die. That might be how you could tell. Keeping fingers crossed.
- Chickens have this magical attraction to styrofoam - they love to eat it. Some say that it does not cause any harm, others don't believe it and keep them away from it. I doubt that it will kill them, but keep them away from it in future.
- I'm guessing you have young chickens.Styrofoam will not hurt them.I don't know why they like eating it.Anytime they find it they will go crazy peaking it apart and eating it.I have yet to even see a chicken die from eating Styrofoam. So I wouldn't be to concerned.450 verses one cooler equals not much will happen except the cooler vanishes. In the future try to remember to keep all Styrofoam products away from chickens or their houses.
